I have always been a fast eater.Have not chewed my foot as thoroughly as I should have and take too big of bites.Well I now have acid reflex and I think that could be one of the reasons.I have been on a campaign in the last couple of months of taking smaller bites and chewing my food really well. Softer foods 5 to 10 chews and more solid foods up to 20 or 25 chews. My stomach has sure said "thank you".It has made a huge difference in the way I feel as well.

Chewing your food doesn't only slow you down so that you eat less, but helps you produce more saliva which counteracts stomach acid. Chewing gum may also help with reflux unfortunately there's a lot of either sugar or artificial sweetners in the stuff to partly counteract the beneficial effects of extra saliva. After all, we don't want to get cavities either, which like heart disease and cancers were less known to almost nill generations back. That comes from a big sugar thing this society has today.

You'll often hear me touting the deeds of my chiropractor. He hasn't helped me this way, but I have heard many of his patients say that their acid reflux has completely gone away since he started treating them.

It helps you to fill full faster as well.It takes your stomach 20 minutes after you eat to register that you are full.

I do not support Chiropractors. There are some that are good and you have to do your research but I have heard of nightmares of people they have treated.
