Hidden In Him

Just thought I'd share a cool testimony I just ran across. The following was posted by a woman on another forum over ten years ago. She gave her life to Jesus as a young girl, but then fell into sin as an adult and began working for an escort service, but she never lost sight of God. She posted the following dream she had one night:

In the dream I was standing in a room, next to a window, and I could feel a strong evil presence which I couldn't see. I just felt it,knew exactly where in the room it stood and I felt a sort of terror.I couldn't see him but I knew it was the devil. The room wasn't dark but it had the lighting of dawn. In the dream, somehow I ended up in the room across and sitting under that window with my arms around my legs in fear. The door was cracked open and I could see the room where the evil presence was. I felt afraid and an urgent need to feel a good presence/ God. I also vaguely remember the wall around the door being covered in papers and/or pictures. Then suddenly, a soft ray of light made me turn to a man I've never met, or to my knowledge, have never even seen before, who stood atop of a latter at the window I was crouched under. He said something to the affect of " you can't see the picture because the wires are crossed" or something about there being no clear connection. He just gave me the feeling of being a cable guy or something but I also felt a calmness.

Shortly after the entry she stopped posting and disappeared from the forum, but just this morning posted an update to her testimony that read as follows:

This is the weird 10 year update! I thank all of those who interceded for me and prayed. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for you all and his call to you all to share his heart. Today I am a great nurse and a pretty awesome mommy! Glory to God forever and ever. Thank you Lord for never losing sight of me no matter how far I thought I could run. Lord, you truly kept your promise to give me hope and a future. I can only respond by surrendering the life you gave me. May the Lord Jesus Christ continue to keep you all in love, hope, faith and peace! Amen!

The wonderful thing about her dream is that it highlights the necessity of having the power of God in one's life, and how a lifestyle of sin can short-circuit that power. I wrote her the following response:

Blessings in Christ, Light88!

I went back and read through your dream, and in hindsight the cable guy appears to have represented the Lord, who was trying to tell you the reason you were walking in such fears was because the enemy had seduced you into getting your "wires crossed," which prevented you from feeling "connected" to Him. When wires cross it causes a short circuit, and then power can no longer run to whatever it is supposed to be powering. In spiritual terms, this is what your life of prostitution was doing to your spiritual life; it was disconnecting you from the Power of God. But as the Scripture says, "He has not given us a Spirit of fear, but one of Power, Love, and a Sound Mind." So the dream appears to have been saying that to "see the picture" of a life without fear, it would necessitate departing from sin and then getting connected to God, the Source of your spiritual Empowerment over the enemy.

So give yourself to study of His word, and to prayer, and to worship. Scripture also says His words are Spirit and they are Life, and that He inhabits the praises of His people, so these spiritual practices become sources of Spiritual Empowerment in your life that will keep you strong if you determine to stay connected to Him.

God bless, and thank you for sharing!

Just clever how the Lord uses even illustrations from electrical power to get across the importance of staying "connected" to Him, and this is the answer to having "power" over the enemy.

God bless,

The one in us is greater then the one in this world.

Yes He is.

I think this may be where a particular dispute within Christianity can sometimes come into play, now that you mention it. Some teach that you have all of Christ in you that you will ever have the minute you get saved, but that has not been my experience, nor does it seem to be born out through the testimonies of other Christians I know. John wrote over and over again to "abide in Him," and he was writing this to Christians. The suggestion was that Christians could choose not to abide in Him if they chose not to. I think it's why Jude also said in his letter, "building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God."

Anyway, just something that came to mind in reading your post.

God bless, and thank you for the reply.

Born of God
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

This ladies testimony was a blessing to me and will be to those who hear it. We can certainly think we can run away, but one of God's promises is that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is always there hoping and waiting for us to return to Him.

BTW, I am moving this over to the Testimony forum for a better fit. Thank you for sharing this with us and pray it gives hope to others.
