Leaven is symbolic of evil. So you are saying modern Christian music is evil (the metal genre in particular)? Only God decides what is evil. Show me the scripture from God that tells us modern Christian music is evil and telling us before which date non-evil music must have been written. Otherwise this is a matter of your taste, not of evil. Please consider how your false judgement on the good Christian folks who are writing and producing this modern genre of Christian music and on those who enjoy it and are drawn closer to God by it must affect them in a bad way.a prime example of a little leaven leavens the whole lump
Christian metal isn't a secular genre.There is a culture that coincides with all (secular) genre's, and you have to be careful about how you are influenced.
I remember ( most I have ever heard ) metal and rap as being as far from Christ as possible. much was down right filthy.Leaven is symbolic of evil. Or perhaps you can show me an example of modern Christian metal music that is evil (evil according to scripture, not according to your personal preference). I've asked for this many times on this forum and also in other places and so far no one can show me.
Then by your logic everything has to be avoided because almost everything was being done before we were Christians. I simply can't agree with your application of this passage. Considering the biblical references to the use of music to praise God (in which the descriptions of it certainly sound pretty wild and joyful!) this scripture is not a condemnation of modern Christian music.
By the way, I find a valid argument in the concept that Christian metal or rock actually IS a "new wine skin" if you want to use that analogy. They took the previous version (secular metal) and re-did it into something new; Christian metal which now avoids the evil parts of the old version. Since none of this music has any evil concepts presented in it, to condemn this is to say that you know the hearts of the artists are evil and their intent in writing their songs is evil. I'm sure I don't need to cite the scripture telling you that you can't make this judgement.
Ok, you say you have heard... this is your perception, etc, etc. You are not God. You do not decide what is evil. You have shown no scripture from God to back your claim of evil. And you claim this music (Christian metal and Christian rap) "incorporated satan or sex in verses" and are telling me those who enjoy it are into "lots of drugs, sex, whiskey and cussing" but you fail to give me even one example of this, not even one shred of evidence of any of it when I asked you for it. Yes, sir, this is false judgement against these Christian people.I remember ( most I have ever heard ) metal and rap as being as far from Christ as possible. much was down right filthy.
and much of it incorporated satan or sex in verses. im not going to try to convince anyone Im right and their wrong. that is my perception of that type music; when I was wild and had the attitude anything goes I went along with it and the crowd
lots of drugs, sex, whiskey and cussing. I left that crowd and that image.
No, you can make a personal choice of what type of music you like. You CAN NOT judge and accuse Christian artists of producing evil music as leaven just because it doesn't fit your personal tastes. There is clear scripture against that and I think you are well aware of that.I can make that judgment, Just as you made your Judgment. The question is "what is the Truth?"
Music without lyrics is simply a series of combinations of tones created by vibrations of the air. There is nothing good nor nothing evil about it. The message conveyed can only be in the lyrics. I've asked over and over for someone to show me an example of any Christian music with these "satanic" or "evil" lyrics or messages they keep harping about and not one person can do it. So all these arguments of it being evil so far are baseless and unscripturaly false judgements. The video that was posted early on has music that is not to my personal liking, but I listened to all of it and found nothing evil or satanic about it in any part of the messages that I could understand.There's two sides to this as I see it. Christian metal may have a place, depending on its message. There's a people who don't go to church and need a physician (to be saved). These people would not play traditional Christian music. They would play metal music. It could plant seeds.
The other side of this is, is the message good, or metal with a Christian label only?
This brings us to the 64k dollar question. Is it the lyrics of the music or the music itself which make it good or evil? Or both?
Thank you! This psalm describes the Old Testament equivalent of a modern day Christian hard rock band, but oh how many people here condemn what this psalm describes as evil and satanic!Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
(Psalm 150: 3-6, ESV)
Obadiah, it is obvious that you are into christian rock and heavy metal and maybe even christian so called rap. I did not capitalize any of the proper nouns, because I don't think they deserve it. The first and original sin is "PRIDE", and that is all those musicians care about is notoriety. I grew up on the birth of Rock and Heavy Metal. Elvis, Bill Haley, Pat Boone, Jerry Lewis (whose cousin is Pat Robinson) all the way through the 50's, 60's, 70's. I pretty much then got selective on the music I listened to or liked, so I'am not void of the influence of music on a persons life.No, you can make a personal choice of what type of music you like. What was your point Mark? I can get the doctrine of Christ's return in the Scriptures.

Once again, ungodly judgement without scriptural cause. You unrighteously condemn a whole class of people based on a few, and you don't give a hoot about our young people bring brought to the Lord through this. What was it Jesus said about how important He considered young people again? Perhaps you have lived past the point of caring about them anymore?Obadiah, it is obvious that you are into christian rock and heavy metal and maybe even christian so called rap. If you will take the time to look at how many musicians started their careers in Church Choirs and became famous changing to secular or pop music that have died of drugs or had their lives ruined,....... from Elvis, Marvin Gay, Whitney Huston, and many others, you would see the trend of how such music and life styles have completely hindered any progress in the change of self to grace, blocking out the image of Christ. You must be born again...really.
I must be born again? Maybe you must be born again so you would learn not to judge falsely.You must be born again...really.
