Christian Rock & Metal

Pharisee's out in full force today.
No wonder we have no young people participating in this forum. They all get driven away by this self righteous condemnation of everything that is meaningful to them. (Yes, they have told me this personally.) Too many people here forget that Jesus loves the young people and rebuked anyone who drove them away from Him. I'm pretty sure He's not happy.

Well...they did put Jesus on the spot for (gasp) eating with publicans and sinners. If the young people won't listen to preaching (or traditional) Christian music...but they would (Christian) metal music...and it's good enough to plant a seed...that may be the only foot in the door that the message gets with them.

Publicans and sinners music...with a twist!

:rocking

It could work. They'll play metal because it's what they're used to.
If the lyrics bring glory to God, and (plant a seed) give the Holy Spirit something to work with...it could work and perhaps in the long run, lead to the saving of a soul.

Would Jesus wear biker boots to save a soul? I think He would. :dancing

And don't forget, they DO have preaching at those concerts too! That's what leads the people to Christ. And it's not just a long shot that once in a while a young person comes to know and accept Christ either. They are in a place where they are not being judged and condemned by a bunch of people who don't like and don't care about them (as Jesus didn't judge and condemn those around Him when he associated with sinners), they see the joy of the Lord in the kind of music they like, they hear the word of God spoken, and thousands of them come to know the Lord through such ministries.

Once again, ungodly judgement without scriptural cause. You unrighteously condemn a whole class of people based on a few, and you don't give a hoot about our young people bring brought to the Lord through this. What was it Jesus said about how important He considered young people again? Perhaps you have lived past the point of caring about them anymore?
I must be born again? Maybe you must be born again so you would learn not to judge falsely.

Your argument is fleshy. I'am not familiar with your beliefs or theology?

You don't need to spell it out when your actions (words posted in this forum) show it.
Heavy metal and Electronic
Heavy metal lyrics are known for their aggressive and violent imagery. So its no surprise it takes 2nd rank here.

Even though Electronic music is mostly instrumental but it still ranks third.

Once again, empty words as I've asked several times for specific examples of this kind of thing in the Christian genre, not just vague meaningless words, but you can not provide them.

Now, I work 10 hour overnight shifts usually with some overtime added on, and it's 2PM so I'm going to bed. Perhaps by the time I log back on tonight you or one of our other members will have found a link to one of these elusive Christian songs that are violent, aggressive, full of sexual content, etc for me to see as an example. I'll check back then.

Im not into ChristIan rap, metal.it's not a sin if it's uplifting Jesus .

It's thar simple. County music is not my style.any genre can be sinful.

Music without lyrics is simply a series of combinations of tones created by vibrations of the air. There is nothing good nor nothing evil about it. The message conveyed can only be in the lyrics. I've asked over and over for someone to show me an example of any Christian music with these "satanic" or "evil" lyrics or messages they keep harping about and not one person can do it. So all these arguments of it being evil so far are baseless and unscripturaly false judgements. The video that was posted early on has music that is not to my personal liking, but I listened to all of it and found nothing evil or satanic about it in any part of the messages that I could understand.

Interesting post.
This may be off topic ( too much) for this thread, but...about music without lyrics, it doesn't seem like it could be evil because there is no message for it to be evil with...

It seems cut and dry, but how much do we really know about the properties of sound?

Sound is just sound. It's there, and then it goes away. That's what I know, lol.
But does the sound have an effect upon people or the environment?

Yes it does, to a degree. Good music makes you feel good inside! Instrumental or not.

See where this is going? Maybe should start a different thread to not sidetrack this one too far.

There may be spiritual implications with the music itself. Heavy metal tends to tune way down...

The guy on YouTube, who did experiments photographing water after freezing into ice crystals, that had been exposed to different types of music and/or speech got phenomenal results which showed significant effects upon the water/ice having been exposed to different music.

Water is a medium fir sound
Whales sing, ever listen them and dolphin?.you put to much mysticism into sound. You can ignore sounds or music if you train your mind.any sensory input can be done that way.I used to be bothered by tire smell. Now I don't bother me.I'm used to and don't even smell it. Yet it's there

my goodness .... this thread is closed...
Not everyone is going like the same music as another.. I love the older hymns My D-i-L believes anything other then singing the Psalms as praise is sinful .. I can read psalms 150 and it says a lot.. The scripture also say make a joyful noise .. noise mind you noise.. unto the Lord...
What i can also find in scriptures is not very nice ... they talk a lot about how we treat one another .. about getting the beams out of our own eye...
I dont like metal music in any form... because i dont like it does not make wrong ..
