Thank you, all. Mom just called. Dad is being kept overnight, but just for observation. Nothing specific yet, just internal organs having problems. This is the time where prayers really are the make or break.

Glad to hear your Dad is recovering, Kevin. You might want to mention to him that, when he needs to cough, he should hug a small pillow to his stomach in order to ease the pain brought about by coughing.

I empathize with your dad. I went through that a few years ago, had my gall bladder removed.

It's wonderful though, isn't it, that we have such good medical care. In my case I went from my family doctor, to an ultrasound lab, to the hospital, and surgery, all in a six hour period. Boy, I felt so much better a few days later.

If the conditions persist, stones can develop in the tract. It's not all that common, but it does occur. And it can be even more serious when it happens than when the gallbladder fills with stones.

Glad your Dad had God-gifted, knowledgeable doctors to help him, Kevin!
