Deciphering

I don't know jasonc as I see much as literal, but yet very spiritual at the same time. I guess I look for the spiritual in all things, but yet some things are just literal, but that's just me.
who says I didn't. I can go into why the twelve sons are called stars. its easy to see. they were after the light of the world with the torah in them. a star shines in the dark.

psalm 82
I say ye are gods, but ye shall die like men

why did the Lord say that about the nation of isreal?

I never said you did or didn't. I was saying how I myself look at different things in scripture to see the literal as it needs to be literal, but to look deeper into those things that can be taken literal, but also has a deeper spiritual meaning. Not all people do this, but only take that of a literal translation.

Psalms 82 is a wonderful example of literal and spiritual. If you cross reference Job 29:12; 31:32; Ezekiel 31:14; and John 10:33-39 you will see how God is rebuking Israel as they stand in the congregation of God being their own gods in judgement of what they think is wickedness instead of helping the poor and unfortunate.

I say ye are gods, but ye shall die like men means they will die Spiritually unless they turn back to Gods will before they literally die. These judges of Israel will die as a tree that stands by the river as they to will wither and fall to the grave and the final judgement will be passed on them.

its more then that. the torah itself is why they are called gods. that is the light and what gave them the power to be healers of nations and the land. that is jewish thought but it does fit and work

If you are meaning the literal book that we read from as being more authoritative than that of God then yes I agree with you. We could be holding the Bible, Quaran or any religious book in our hands, but if we do not know the true God of all creation then these books mean nothing to us other than what man teaches making themselves gods.

the torah it self isn't just words, it was a covenant and power in it was given to the Hebrews if they did it, but we have a greater power then they did. God himself.

Gen 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

I think somewhere they forgot God within the covenant He made with Abraham and became their own gods being lead into idolatry.

I believe this is exactly what happened.
