Democratic people of God - The church format

So should churches actively practise democracy? Or should they be methodical; or let the authorities be the never-looking-back decision-makers?

Or maybe it should be variety stuff: let's find out what that may work.

Paul gives the model. Even though the world had seen democratic type systems, I don't read it used in the church setting. Paul appointed elders. In the practical, it's a big reason why I don't attend any church buildings. You have church membership, not just elders voting on issues. There is no way that young people should have any directional say at all, they haven't wisdom, mostly just desires.

I used to think the democratic style was the way to go. Then I realized congregations are no more fit to appoint their own leaders than children would be at picking their own parents.

I also realize that we will never have churches the way God intended them to be. It's hard for me to digest that, but I'm convinced that's the truth. Nonetheless, God is still able to lead and guide his people, individually.
