Disobedient Churches

Jesus started churches two thousand years ago. Aren't churches supposed to be much better than the early churches when the appostles built them? Have you ever thought about it? Free churches shouldn't have any difficulty following the faith. We have the Bible, wealth, persecution, etc. Yet we are always ready to make excuses for disobedients by saying nobody is perfect, don't judge, etc. Why are the leaders always making excuses for their members? Isn't that because they are disobedient themselves? If you are truly concerned about churches hypocrisy you ought to boycott going to such a church. We can still be obedient without going to this kind of church.
All we have to do is look on the internet. We can find true ministries. These people are true disciples, the ones in countries where christianity is illegal, and they are willing to still be christian and evangelize. Why do we waste God's money on so many pastors' salaries and church buildings? Do you really think we need so many churches for people who are not serious about following His teaching? I hope you are smart enough to know the difference between imperfection and hypocrisy.

We should never have different kinds of denominations. it should be one body under His name. We have so many denominations because they are emphasizing some part of the scriptures. We should never take a pick!

All of His teaching should be obeyed!

I'm not sure exactly where you're coming from here, joyinhim, but I think that we always need to bear in mind that the church is 'a hospital for sinners'. In days gone by the church used to be a refuge for anyone running from the law. These days we seem to have gone to the opposite extreme due to recent legislation. The church is now expected to hand over an alleged offender to a law enforcement agent. As said, I'm not sure what you mean so I could be way off-track.

Yes, you could be right. But, we don't need to go overseas to preach Jesus since, most often, the very ones who need Jesus are in our own backyard. Any church that is not doing missionary work in ITS OWN NEIGHBORHOOD is obviously not following the teaching of Jesus.

As you've seen on this forum, people are not only set in their ways but they will also continue to defend a practice that they later realize is incorrect. Old habits die hard and pride is so often the cause of that. None of us - that includes me - exactly relish the idea of somebody telling us that we just might be wrong! People also require the comfort of church traditions and the fellowship of similar others. Sometimes a modification in one's belief may jeopardize those traditions and friendships. All of these things are understandable but the bottom line when all is said and done is the Bible. Adhering to the scriptures is often not an easy road.

All of His teaching should be obeyed!

Yes. There are too many 'man-made' traditions that get in the way, however. And, many of these traditions are defended to the hilt. Should someone else question them they automatically become the enemy. Human beings ....God help us from ourselves.

sput, what I mean is that most churches are not interested in following Jesus' teaching. I don't see much of servanthood is practiced in the churches. The churches are like social clubs instead of serving God.

Yes we have to evangelize to every one around us. But we can do much more. Since we are blessed with the wealth we can support brothers and sisters overseas (they are not wealthy like us) much more than we are doing now.

Just because we are so used to our own old ways, that does not make it right. We have to be honest and true to the Lord in our faith.

Yes, I know what you mean. It seems to be a sign of the times we're living in. I've felt for a long time that our social events seem to raise more interest from our members than do outreach programs. But, things ARE beginning to change. And, you know what? ...YOU can make a difference as an individual. Involve yourself in your new church and let them know how serious you are at perhaps prioritizing the basics of Christianity. Oftentimes people just need a good push!

Have you heard of the Adra Relief Program? Check it out on the Web if you haven't heard of it. Adra operates under the auspices of the SDA Church and involves missionary work around the globe. Perhaps you could even become a volunteer for such work if you so desire. According to Tony Campolo (a Baptist evangelist) ...EVERY able-bodied Christian should be out in the mission fields.

Just because we are so used to our own old ways, that does not make it right. We have to be honest and true to the Lord in our faith.

As I say, even good people get apathetic and need a hefty shove to motivate them. You might just be the one to start the dominoes toppling!

sputnik, I have tryed to get involved with churches to encouraged them. No churches wanted me. They are not interested in changing anything new or improving their walk with Jesus. They have no excuses whatsoever for their lukewarm attitude. I feel so sorry for them.

Pastors are not welcoming anyone who intimidate their old way of practices.

I decided to attend SDA even though I don't agree with their interpretaion of the military.
