'When Paul and his companions had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead. “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,” he said. Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women. But other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city. They rushed to Jason’s house in search of Paul and Silas in order to bring them out to the crowd. But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some other believers before the city officials, shouting: “These men who have caused trouble all over the world have now come here, and Jason has welcomed them into his house. They are all defying Caesar’s decrees, saying that there is another king, one called Jesus.” When they heard this, the crowd and the city officials were thrown into turmoil. Then they made Jason and the others post bond and let them go. '

Many of the Jews hated the disciples like they did Jesus. They were jealous of them. Bitterness and hatred are the root of murder. Those who are consumed with bitterness and hatred will find themselves trying to destroy those whom they hate either by gossiping and ruining their reputation, trying to sabotage them, trying to carry out evil schemes against them, or even violence or murder in some cases. That is the spirit of murder, and the reason Jesus says that it is a sin when we are angry with someone or hate them. If we find ourselves angry or bitter, we need to deal with that sin right away before it grows and becomes destructive. These jews hated the disciples so badly that they gathered up evil people to start a riot to hunt them down and destroy them. God knew this would happen and the disciples were nowhere to be found. He was protecting them! We never know what God has protecting us from each day! He protects us even when we are not even aware of an issue. Thank You, Jesus!!!
Not only did these Jews seek to destroy these disciples, but then tried to destroy the man who was helping them. Anger, bitterness, and jealousy can even cause people to go after the people who try to support or help the persons that they hate. They tried but failed because Jason and the others posted bond and then were let go. This is why it is important to keep our support system in our prayers. God even protects those who support or help His people!! That is so awesome!!!
