Earthquakes

Three major earthquakes from all around the world yesterday, Iran/Iraq, Costa Rica, and Japan.
Lots of noise over in Iraq, but there is little fanfare in Costa Rica and Japan.
What's coming next?
And how soon.

When Jesus returns, we will know it.

There will be those who will say to you, ‘Look, over there!’ or, ‘Look, over here!’ But don't go out looking for it. As the lightning flashes across the sky and lights it up from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day. Luke 17:23-24 GNT

Our job is simply to be ready:

So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Matthew 24:44 NIV

Jesus was speaking directly to his diciples 2000 years ago. Do they also have to be ready as well?, I mean, he was speaking directly to them and told them to be ready.

But surely that generation would not past until all those things be fullfilled.

All of those people are now with the Lord. Let's hope they were ready. Note that Jesus said He did not know the day Himself. Only the Father does.

"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Matthew 24:36 NIV

So Jesus counseling His followers to be ready makes sense.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 NIV

Be grateful that the Father was patient so that you and your family would have a chance to come to repentance. Be ready, you don't know when He will return for you. Jesus will return.

He was talking to his diciples in Matthew 24. Why did he tell them they will see all those things if it was for a future generation?. Would Jesus not clarify and say but don't worry my diciples all the end times are far off, even 2000 years later. But no, he tells them when they see the signs and was talking to them.

Jesus talking to his diciples.

Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

If the diciples didnt see all those things Jesus is a liar for telling them directly they would see and witness those things and in that generation.

When I see those things 2000 years later?, and as far as the bible goes a generation is not 2000 years.

People think the NT is talking to them when its a historical record of witness and testimony. It gets all twisted. Jesus tells his diciples they will see things and people think its when I see these things. Jesus told his 12 diciples from the 12 tribes to go out and baptise and preach the gospel and people think I should go out and baptise and preach the gospel.

My interpritation?. How is that when I believe Jesus words. He told his diciples directly talking to them, who were standing there, that they themselves would witness Matthew 24 and that generation would not pass till all be fullfilled. I believe that, im not making anything my own.

Jesus was speaking to his diciples as the scripture says . Hard to take that out of context.

It might help to keep in mind that the disciples asked 2 different questions, not one. The answer to the one question is very different from the answer to the other. First to set the background for the questions, verses 1 and 2:

As Jesus left the Temple and was walking away, his followers came up to show him the Temple’s buildings. Jesus asked, “Do you see all these buildings? I tell you the truth, not one stone will be left on another. Every stone will be thrown down to the ground.” Matthew 24:1-2 NCV

Jesus had just told them that the Temple buildings would be razed. This happened around 70 AD. Now to the 2 questions the disciples asked:

Later, as Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, his followers came to be alone with him. They said, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that it is time for you to come again and for this age to end?” Matthew 24:3 NCV

1) Tell us when these things will happen? That is, when will the buildings be razed. 70 AD

2) What will be the sign that it is time for you to come again, and for this age to end? Hasn't happened yet.

Pay careful attention to which of these 2 questions Jesus was answering at what places in the subsequent verses. The answer to question one is very different than the answer to question two.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Did not those disciples we read about in Matthew 24 see many of those signs Jesus taught them to look for? Does not every generation from that time forward not see those signs even today? We have been shown what to look for and to make ourselves ready as no one knows the day or the hour Christ will return, Matthew 24:36, 37, but as the days of Noah when wickedness was so bad in the world as God saved Noah so will be the same when Christ returns and saves us.

And absent these sources, I believe it's easy to view the world through a myopic lens of your own generation. Wars and rumors of wars? They probably did this during World War I and II.
I could imagine during WWII that many thought the end was at hand.
