Fade Away

The Lounge is fading away.
The top 18 threads are 3-4 days now.
There was a time when the top 18 threads were every 3-4 hours.
The Lounge is fading away.

What can be done to revitalize the Lounge?
Possibly a makeover.
Anyone know how to do that?
Maybe we should give away door prizes.
That will surely increase the volume of users.

Maybe we could form a committee to decide the best threads started every week.
Not for status but for encouraging everyone to write more.

Anyway, what do you think?
The Lounge is obviously fading.
What do you plan to do about it?

They may not need to do anything. I've been here since 2010, and the activity on the sight and in individual forums has always gone up and down. No telling why sometimes. It just loses and builds momentum.

Good answer.
We must give that considerable thought.
We must also keep in mind that this general forum was renamed the Lounge with a big makeover and became an instant hit!!!

I think the biggest help for all of the forums would be to fix whatever problem it is that is causing the pages to load so slowly. It's not unusual for it to take 15 to 20 seconds for something that on every other site happens instantly. (Admittedly it seems it's been much better the last several days. Seems the problem comes and goes.) When I'm browsing through sites and run across one with those kind of problems I just move on to another site. I'm sure a ton of guests and members come by here to see what's going on and just leave for the same reason. That's my opinion of the biggest problem that keeps this site inactive these days.

This site is nothing at all like it use to be, this site use to be jumping, the activity was through the roof. That was like the first 3 years that I was here

That's true for me when I started as well, but I would never want this site to morph into something like CFcom, and that's where we were trending. You get to know people here, as much as you can on line. CFnet is to CFcom what Mayberry is to New York City.

When the forum all changed a couple years ago, in a single day half the people were gone never to return, why, I do not know, but it was a weird. Im sure many here remember that.

I could never figure it out because I would never think christians would suddenly all leave a fellowship and friends just because of a new forum look, that would be so shallow, so shallow it makes shallow look deep. Or maybe we were not there friends even they were ours, and they didnt like us enough to say bye. Lol.

But yea, the internets a weird place.

I remember when that happened but from what I understand most of those who disappeared off the roster were inactive members that hadn't logged on in a long time.

But there is still the conspiracy theory about the malware and spyware, im sure paranoia got the best of the christian conspiracy theorist because they all left and none returned the next day. lol.

I don't know anything about that.

It was just a joke. As the site was changing over from old to new it said it was infected and had warnings on malware. But it was all cleaned up and nothing, it would have just been a advertising link somewhere on the site, and nothing to do with this actural site and CF.

Oh, OK. :biggrin2

I had completely forgotten about that, but that was HUGE!! I was a mod at the time, and even we had absolutely no foreknowledge of Greg's decision to shut down the site on the old platform and immediately open it on the new one. Later, we worked with him to more systematically move it again to where it is. In both cases, some members were either unwilling or unable to make the transitions with us. No one here was happy about that.

Since writing this, lots of new threads keep poppin up with not many responses compared with the olden days.
There can't be as many people viewing the forum.

Hard to view when it takes 30 seconds to load pages like it was just doing a few minutes ago. New or prospective members will just go away.
