False Teaching - Word of Faith

:o "Every man who has been born again is an incarnation and Christianity is a miracle. The believer is as much an incarnation as was Jesus of Nazareth." (Kenneth Hagin, "The Incarnation," The Word of Faith (December 1980), p. 14)

:o "Man is a spirit who possesses a soul and lives in a body...., He is in the same class with God. ...We know that God is a Spirit. And yet [He] took upon Himself a man's body....when God took upon Himself human form, He was no less God than when He didn't have a body. Man, at physical death, leaves his as he was when he had his body." (Kenneth Hagin, Man of Three Dimensions [Tulsa: Faith Library, 1973], no page)

:o Being poor is a sin. (Robert Tilton, Success in Life, recorded 12/2/90)

:o Forget your church. (Robert Tilton, Success in Life, recorded 3/4/91)

:o Do not say "Lord if it be thy will". (Robert Tilton, Success in Life, recorded 12/14/91)

:o God has 9 parts (tri-theistic).
  • A. God has a body, soul and spirit.
    B. Jesus has a body, soul and spirit.
    C. Holy Spirit has a body, soul and spirit.
(Benny Hinn, Benny Hinn broadcast, recorded 10/13/90)
(NOTE: Allegedly Hinn later recanted this ascertion, but his view of the Godhead is still unclear.)

:o Christians are little messiahs. Christians are little gods. (Benny Hinn, Praise-a-thon (TBN), recorded November 1990)

That Hinn gets on my nerves sometimes. White suit, angel of light??? Hmm. 8)

2 Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Tim 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

I checked out the link you posted. I disagree on their views of Joyce Meyer, Rod Paresly, & Robert Schuller. Personally, I do not mind those preachers. I'd watch them anyday. :)

I did a study on the subject of exodus 15.

Why drink polluted waters when you can drink pure water straight from the source?

All these Wor/Faith/Prosperity teachers are leading people astray and away from Christ, poisoning the souls of everyone who takes on board what they teach with their polluted waters.

2Ki 18:27 But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?
Isa 36:12 But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

This is exactly what they do, they take in the Bible, cheww it up and then feed everyone with their own faeces and urine! the only thing it can do is make people sick and ultimately die!

I agree. That is also why I believe faith is a gift of God, there's too much junk passing as Christianity.

oh please, spare us.... nothing original here, just the same venom hanegraaf and john macarther spew out daily...

actually, even macarthur in all of his ranting and raving has never said this...

you may need to check your love walk there, "brother"

anyone can take a few quotes out of context and go on the attack against anyone.

Do not say "Lord if it be thy will". (Robert Tilton, Success in Life, recorded 12/14/91)
why would any student of scripture have to pray "if it be thy will"? we have his will revealed in the Bible!!

Matthew 6:9-13
Matthew 26:32
Mark 14: 35-36
here's a few examples why one should ask His will be done ... Jesus did it.

ok, in matt 6:9-13,Jesus is not praying "if it by thy will", He ALREADY KNOWS GOD'S WILL. He is praying that God's will BE DONE on earth. We can see what the will of the father is from the ministry of Jesus-- healing the sick, preaching the gospel, setting the captive free, ect. Jesus taught us to pray for the will of God to BE DONE ON EARTH as IN heaven. There is no disease, lack, poverty, malnutrition, hatred, etc in heaven.

you must've meant matt 26:42. here Jesus is submitting to the will of the father. He already knew that he was to take on the sin of the world, but he was tempted not to. this is not a prayer of "oh, if it be thy will...." this is submission to what he already knew to do.
same deal w/ mark 14:35-36

Problem is, it's more then a few quotes from a few WOF preachers.

lots of people have made stupid statements and even taught some things contrary to the bible and arent considered damnable heretics. martin luther was notoriously anti-semitic.

So do you believe that everyone who says they are of God truly are even if their statements of belief indicate much false teaching? It's a serious charge to be leading others astray in such a manner.

Scripture clearly tells us that we are to watch out for such people:

Matthew 7:15
"Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves."

Matthew 24:24
"For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect."

1 John 4:1
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

2 Peter 2:1
"But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves."

2 Corinthians 11:13-15
For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

Anyone who implies, or outright says that we sinful human beings are in any way godlike is "denying the Master who bought them." They are preaching an outright lie - spitting on God's sacrifice and grace - and they are deceiving many people. Notice what Paul and Peter say the fate of such people will be.

NO, OF COURSE NOT. but, you guys whose hobby is leveling a heresy charge against every point of doctrine in which you interpret differently and attacking legitamite men of God really bothers me...for instance, i believe 5 point calvinism is entirely unbiblical, but i'm i'm not going to damn someone to eternal hell over adherence to the calvinist position.
however a jehovah's witness cannot be saved because they do not believe in the deity of christ or his resurrection.
there are essential issues, and there are non essential issues.

...i believe 5 point calvinism is entirely unbiblical...

Thank God! I'm a five pointer, . Besides, it's hard to call a theology unbiblical when it acknowledges God as total sovereign, giving ALL the credit in the plan and execution of salvation to Him.

Grace Alone, all very applicable verses...thanks.

mhess13, for clarifications purposes, just who is it you are defending and do you feel as a believer, you have an obligation, so to speak, to warn others of false teachings? Using the Bible and God's discernment of course, leaving out feelings and opinions.

vic,
i'm not defending any one wof teacher, and yes we have an obligation to warn believers of error. but we dont have the right to smear wof teachers over NON-SALVATION issues. i believe God is good and wants to bless me spiritually, physically, and YES even financially. this is enough to be called a heretic by some these heresy hunters.

i mean, for godness sake, look at this statement AGREED with by jason..

this isn't warning people of error in christian love, this is phariseism. and beyond that, there is no error being propagated by wof that will lead to the damnation of a soul. wof agree ON THE ESSENTIALS.
you guys outta be out there warning people about the young men with nap sacks and clean white shirts knocking on your door talking about joseph smith.
i'm wof, i wish all christians were. BUT, if someone gets said and goes to a church that teaches (uhhhhhhhhh...) 5 point calvinism, i rejoice because they have accepted Christ as their savior as I have.

doctrine is important, but this venomous heresy hunting needs to stop.

i mean get SAVED, not get said  duhhh
hehe, I knew what you meant. 8) Thanks for responding. It helps to know why one takes a defensive stance.

I don't know much about most of the preachers mentioned, but they do seem to put on a show. My main gripe is with Benny. I have seen the spoils of his fruits. He has been the topic of discussion on shows such as Dateline, HBO's America Undercover (along with Reinhard Bonnke) and 60 minutes. He claims to heal people, yet his healings, for the most part, are mind over marrer and short-lived. He once 'healed' a man with very poor eyesight and told him he didn't need his glasses anymore. When the man got home, he fell over some furniture and got seriously hurt. This because of some false hope of seeing again by some off the wall preacher. Save the sight miracles for Jesus and His Apostles.

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Surely a sign for now as well as a sign to come.

again, i dont defend everything done or said by certain teachers. but please, please keep in mind that anything you watch on secular media will be skewed to make faith teachers look as bad as possible. you'll only get a one sided set up job. just like when dan rather ran the special on homeschoolers who homeschool to keep their abused kids out of the public eye.... as a result of that some fellow christians started raising an eyebrow toward homeschooler. AAARRRRHHHH

i guess i'm a mess. i go to a word church AND i homeschool my kids. radical fundamentalism combine w/ extreme faith doctrine!!! OOOHHHHHHH
CALL SOCIAL SERVICES

btw, VIC
i've never heard any wof teacher, including benny hinn ever claim THEY heal, the credit is always given to Jesus, He is always magnified and honored. hinn is always careful to give the glory to Jesus, i've heard his rebuke people for saying that he healed them. he makes it clear that he is a willing vessel that God uses to bring healing to the sick

btw -- i'm not a big hinn fan, i dont care for his style, his bad suits, and he's said some things he probably wishes he could take back.
but he's human like the rest of us, not a damnable heretic
