If you have been keeping up with the news lately, then you have probably heard how the first elections are being held in Afghanistan on Aug 20th.. that's three days away and I must admit.. I am a little anxious. I have alot of friends that are pulling security for the elections and going on missions.. I pray for their safety and for the courage of the Afghan people to go out and vote. I pray that they don't let the Taliban scare them away from making a choice that they have a right to make.

I pray for the Taliban to back off, and let people live in peace. I voted for the first time last year, and when I did.. I didn't have anyone threatening to kill me or my family. As a woman, I didn't have anyone telling me that my opinion didn't count. On the way to the place where you vote, I didn't fear that someone was going to try and kill me. It makes me realize how blessed we are to be able to vote without the enemy forces trying to deter us.

Please keep the Afghanistan people in your prayers, along with the Soldiers over here.

I'll certainly be praying for this, and especially for the women of Afghanistan. :thumb

And, Kimberly, I don't know if I've said this to you before or not, but thank you for your service. I know that the reason that my son and daughter can mumble and grumble about summer coming to an end and having to go back to school in freedom and safety is because you and your comrades are out there on the line for us. Tell everyone over there that there is a mom in Idaho who truly appreciates all the sacrifices y'all are going through!

:amen :clap

I just heard on the news that the Taliban is threatening that if any one votes and gets ink on their finger, they will chop it off.

Let's hold these folks up in prayer!!!

i will be in prayer as well, i was there in afghanistan for the first elections that kept Hamid karsai in office, and many women were able to vote even in kunar and jalabad provinces.

The taliban also reared their ugly head back then

Aww... thank you Handy :-) That means alot.. it really does. I appreciate everyone being so welcoming and friendly here. It's nice to have a place to go where I can talk to other believers.

Yes, the taliban has definitely made threats.. I am nervous about the 20th,
things have already picked up.. they are trying to do whatever they can to
stop the elections from happening, and trying to stop us from stopping them..

I just pray something big doesn't happen on that day

yes, i understand that fear, but know this that if the Lord brought me out of afghanstan, he will do the same for you, You are his child and and are under his protection, no evil can come against you unless the Lord allows it, have faith
