For the Ladys: the "Perfect" shape

I definitely think that the way a girl looks effects the way people her her. I am doing a fund raisor for kids in Africa and I asked some people at a basketball game for donations. Almost all the guys that I asked donated and one guy even said "I am only donating because you're hot" I think that is sad. I don't go to normal high school anymore but when I did I know that the girls that were pretty were the popular girls. I think looks effect the way that everyone looks at you, except the most important person and that is god. In my experience most people treat you different depending on the way that you look. I don't care what I look like, I only care what God thinks about me.

I heard a really good sermon at Youth Church (IMPACT) a couple of weeks ago. It was all about God creating you the way you are for a specific reason, and that you just have to accept that. In the end, It won't matter what you look like because the time you are on earth is just a little speck compared to the eternity you'll spend in heaven. :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061 :smt061

But yes, in this world, any person is going to be judged by how they look, not by what comes out of their mouth.

What have you gals experienced with having to look good, and do your looks effect your popularity?

I'm not sure if I'm properly answering your questions here, but we'll see! :)

I think that the majority of girls, if not all will go through a personal struggle in this area (self image). We're constantly bombarded by society and the media, pretty much telling us that we have to look good and be "hot" otherwise we're not worth the attention etc.

I think that looks *can* play a big part in where a person is ranked socially. This is just a generalization but most of the girls with popularity have the looks - which gives them the confidence.

I'm not sure if looks have affected my popularity. I used to be more popular at school but then I drew away from it by choice as I accepted God into my life. It irritates me greatly to see guys (and girls too) only talking to people they consider hot. There actually ARE people out there as shallow as that. I recall wearing my hair curly at school one day last year and a guy who hadn't seen me for quite a few months told me "I think you look hotter when your hair is straight," and has hardly talked to me much since. *insert-sick-face-here*. >.<

I've been through major struggles with this area. It's a tough time because everyone wants to look good otherwise they feel like no one wants them because they're not attractive enough. It's horrible. This area is one of the devil's tools to drill us. The thing is, Jesus wants us. He treasures us. He didn't give us our bodies to oogle over. He gave them to us knowing that they wouldn't last.

o_O Right at this very moment there is something on TV for the news or a news-related-show. "What men really want in Australian women. Women have been spending their money trying to impress men, but have they got it all wrong?" They're talking about what men want "waists of curves?" and they have all these sleazy photo (pretty much porn) showing. :smt119 This makes me sick. -_-;;

It's a relief that we have something better to live for and that we don't have to meet the standards of this world. :)

I'm homeschooled, so while I do not experience most of the popular and non-popular labels that are in school, I do see some of it around me. I don't think it's right to judge people soley based on their looks. I think it's bound to happen and that we all are guilty of it. But I do not think that that is how God wants us to view people - while we see the outside, God sees the heart.
I notice that when I dress certain ways I get more attention, but if those ways are ungodly and go against my beliefs, then I'm not going to do it. I'll let the guys who are really searching for something deeper than just looks to come my way.
