Get a Medical Check-up? Don't Bother!

jews such as myself that come from kosher lines in the past have genetic predisposition to illness.

one of them is guillame-barret syndrome. that law doesnt mean a sin free and also healthy life. job sinned not and ogt sick. that is what i mean and the prophets also and sages mention miracles and healings. rightoeus men and women suffering for the sins of the leaders.

and that is alluding to the idea of the judgement of egypt.nothing of the sort. there were poor hebrews and commands to alleviate the poor in the torah.

the curses upon egypt. that he plagued them.

these are
blood for the water of the nile
lice
frogs
hail
darkness.
boils
and also the killing of the firstborn.
locusts

allenwynne: ....but I thought Paul advised Timothy to take a little wine for his stomach's sake, for his often infirmities (1 Timothy 5.23).

i would say timothy wasn't taking care of himself, working too hard and all.
i don't know the answer to it all, but who actually obeys Gods' commands and takes care of themselves with proper diet etc..?
i would think that if we look at it from the right perspective, we can gain knowledge of the truth.
certainly doctors are not the answer.
God is the answer. i'm positive God is the answer.

This is a false dichotomy. What basis do you have for denying that medical knowledge is not from God or that doctors are somehow opposed to God and how God actually works in this world?

Exodus 15:26
Exodus 23:25-26
Psalm 103:3
Jeremiah 30:17
Deuteronomy 7:15
Isaiah 46:10-11

in all cases, God says that he is the healer.

King Asa sought out doctors instead of God and died. 2 Chronicles 16:12-13

King Ahaziah sought out sorcerers instead of God and died. 2 Kings 1:2-4

God needs no middleman.Jesus never referred anyone to a doctor.

You are now committing the logical fallacy of begging the question. There is nothing in those verses to suggest that medical knowledge is not from God or that doctors are somehow opposed to God.

okay, let's turn in around.
where in the bible does it say that doctors are doing the will of God?
(i'm going off now, i'll catch up with you tomorrow) goodnight.

I was going to say, yes, what about Doctor Luke? and Paul advised Timothy to drink wine for medicinal reasons.

The idea that because something may not be explicitly mentioned in the Bible that it is therefore not true or somehow goes against God is an error in reasoning, and one that is all too common. The Bible need not explicitly state something in order for it to be true or false, of God or not of God.

There are many cases that check-ups lead to unneeded surgery and medication. Of course these things can be harmful to you. They can also save your life. My belief is that trauma is for doctors while preventative care is for me. Nuts help my heart. Walks do too. Activity helps my hernia. Biking helps my breathing. Climbing helps my core. Strong core protects me from injury. Doctors help my broken leg when I fall from climbing.

Allenwynne, the word sorcery means poison. Maybe that is why he died.

good morning everyone. how did i get in this position anyway?
my statement that God is the answer seems to have provoked quite a debate.
well, regardless of where this debate goes, God is still the answer.
of course i've been to a doctor. diagnosing a problem starts there.
can and does God use doctors for his will? i'm sure he does, he uses all of us for something.
but think about this: if Jesus is the great physician which he is, and we have access to Jesus, then why do we look towards other physicians to solve our health issues? it's a problem with me just like almost everyone else.
i'm hypothyroid. a doctor gives me a pill. he says my thyroid is now normal. but i still have 25 symptoms. i found a strong hypothyroid diet to follow and i am getting better. no pills, no doctor, just a healthy diet.

i never meant to give you all the impression that i am against all doctors. i tried to emphasize that going to God first is our answer. is our faith strong enough to believe that God will heal us? if not, then we need to work on building each other up in our faith.
i think we may be surprised at how much God can and will do for us if we give him a chance.

my church believes in the healing promises but my pastor will say medicine works. if one is bitten by a coral snake does one just pray and Not go to the hopsital? or rather does one pray as one goes the hospital.

coral snakes are the most lethal in america but most people when bitten dont get the poison as the snake has small teeth.

Thanks for clearing that up Allenwynne. I'm glad to hear a sensible diet is improving your situation. On that subject, God provided us with the raw ingredients for a healthy diet, which goes to show your point. However,it took somebody (a biologist, dietician, nutritionist) Blessed with knowledge of the chemicals that make up every living organism to figure out that if you eat such n such a food the benefits are this or that. Again it is God's work in blessing these people with the ability to do this work. They are His tools. He uses the medical profession to work miracles sometimes.
It's a little like this.
A man is on a ship and falls overboard. He's a very devout Christian, so he begins praying to God.
Someone on the ship sees him in the water and throws him a life ring. He yells back to the ship,"it's ok I'm a Christian. God will save me."
The captain of the ship sees this and launches a fast rescue boat, but when it gets to the man, he again says"it's Ok I'm a Christian, God will save me!"
The captain decides to call the coastguard. They send a helicopter and diver to rescue the guy. But he swims away and say "It's Ok I'm a Christian God will save me!"
On this he slips beneath the waves to never be seen again.
When he arrives in heaven, God's waiting for Him. He's elated yet confused and asks God "Lord I'm a devout man with a young family, why didn't you save me?"
God replies " I sent you a life ring, a fast rescue boat, a helicopter and diver, what more do you want?!"

I dont run to the doctor... 2008 i had some symptoms that could have been nothing more then my age....I almost waited too long .... It was a 3+ pound malignant tumor. Surgery and ugly chemo... I still dont 'run to the doctor' I do follow his request with a yearly CTscan which should end 2013. Getting a check up makes way more sense then running to the doctor with a cold...

Back in the 50s moms were the doctors. Plenty of fluids, and rest covers a lot of ailments. For toddlers keep a few pop cycles in freezer for the busted lips..Use your God given brain, faith and remember to thank Him for your healing

Coral snakes, what a joke.
When was the last time you ever heard of a person dying from a coral snake bite?
