I have recently read a book that I found on Amazon called Gospel of Christ, written by Jacob (only one name.?). This book is strange and powerful. It's like all four gospels rolled into one, with a few added passages I've never read before. I'm sure many would call this book heretical, but when I read it I was amazed at how the gospels I've read a hundred times became something new and interesting. I truly believe that this book could usher in a new renaissance of Christianity.
Here's a passage: 'Pilate presented Jesus alongside Barabbas to the crowds. Barabbas had committed murder during an insurrection against Rome.
Many in the crowd who considered themselves good people cried out for Jesus' death because his blasphemy was an affront to their religion, his peace was against their politics, and his love was against their sense of strength.
Pilate's wife pleaded with Pilate to have nothing to do with Jesus' punishment, knowing he was a just man.
Pilate responded, "It is out of my hands. There are laws in place. By making himself king he spoke against Caesar. I wash my hands of it."'
