In Proverbs 4:20-23 it says 20My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. There's a revelation behind that I don't think people understand. First of all that word health is translated- medicine, remedy, healing, cure. And in all his instructions the main idea is to get and keep the word of God in your heart/spirit. And there's a reason for that, in the New Testament Jesus taught a lesson that reflects on these scriptures. In Mark 4 in the parable of the sower Jesus taught that the heart of man is like soil and that words are seeds. He said a sower went out to sow and what he sowed was words. And when the seed found good ground it brought forth fruit some thirty-fold, some sixty, and some an hundred. Another word for fruit is manifestation. So, the words that was sown produced a manifestation of what the word said.
In Mark 4:22 Jesus makes that point that there will be a manifestation of the word sown in your heart. It says, 22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. Let me break that scripture down- that word hid means hidden inwardly/to conceal by covering. That word manifested means visible and that word secret is the same word hid to conceal by covering. That word come one meaning is grow and that word abroad means appear, manifest, be seen, outwardly. Meaning there is nothing hidden inwardly which shall not be visible; neither was anything hidden inwardly, but that it should grow to be seen outwardly. People have thought that Jesus was talking about people finding out secrets that people try to hide. No, that whole chapter is based on sowing seed. Basically what Jesus is saying is the word you put inwardly there will be a manifestation outwardly. That spiritual word will be seen physically. If you put a rose seed in the ground and attend to it, water it at some point you are suppose to see a rose.
Let me give you an example of all this in Genesis God promised a man named Abram that he and his wife would have a son and that his decedents would be as numerous as the stars in the sky. But in Genesis 17 both him and his wife were old and his body was dead and her womb was dead(Romans 4:19), but in spite of that notice in verses 4,5 and 15, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. 15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. Notice, God changed their names from Abram-High Father to Abraham-Father of a multitude and from Saria-My Princess to Sarah-Princess of the multitude. What did God do, He gave them a seed. Names have meanings that's why you have to watch what you name your children. He gave them a seed that was in line with his word. And that seed planted and watered changed the conditions of their bodies and manifested the promise. God knew what He was doing, each time you hear the word you are planting and watering seed. In 1 Corinthians 3:6,7 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. God has already supplied the seed, but it's up to you to plant and water it.
It is not God's will that any should perish. And I wouldn't want to end this article without giving someone the opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It's very easy just pray: Dear God- I know I have sinned and I now turn from them and I invite Jesus to come into my heart (Revelation 3:20). He died for my sins and you have raised him from the dead and I now confess that Jesus is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,10). I thank you for saving me, Amen
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
