Hanukkah – The Circumcision of the Messiah
I have always considered Hanukkah just a Jewish imitation of a Christian Christmas. But consider that Hanukkah lasts for 8 days, and Jesus was circumcised on the 8th day after birth as mandated by the covenant of Abraham, then Hanukkah becomes symbolic of Jesus Christ's circumcision.
Jesus is called the second and last Adam. At the circumcision of the Messiah the infant Jesus was given the name 'Emmanuel' which God the Father had chosen for his only son. When man was created sinless God gave him his name 'Adam'. Likewise Jesus is the second and last Adam since God gave his newly born sinless son his name 'Emmanuel' which means 'God is with us'.
Hanukkah and Christmas go together since Christmas is the birth of the messiah, a light unto the world, and Hanukkah is the festival of lights whereby that light shall dwell inside every believer through the indwelling Holy Spirit and it will never go out!
God named Adam, and then his very own son 'Emmanuel' when he was born a man, and both were sinless. Adam became sin when he was tempted by Eve. Jesus Christ became sin when he was nailed to the cross to suffer death for all of our sins. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ was as if all of mankind was trying to nail the forbidden fruit, complete with two bite marks, back on the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil to undo their sin in the Garden of Eden.
Believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ who is the messiah Emmanuel Yahshua - God with us – and receive the indwelling Holy Spirit (hint: get baptized) and become one of the Hanukkah candles symbolic of God's Holy Spirit that can never be extinguished.
God Bless
