Well,What do you mean by relevant story?
At a very early age I was reading those old bible story books for children and I read the one about Joseph, and it really touched me. Why? Because I was an outcast, betrayed, lost. Instead of being thrown into a hole and sold into slavery, I went into an orphanage. Joseph's coat was a special coat, and I had special slippers for the cold floor. You see, the story was living and active, sharper than a two edge sword cutting into bone and marrow because I could identify with Joseph, even when he was falsely accused. At a young age, I just connected with him and because I connected, the story became relevant to me.
All of those stories are meant for us. We can learn so much from them and there are many of them and I like to talk about them when I can. If somebody is talking to you about something, start to think about what story relates to their situation and when you are talking about them, you can say, Yeah, I know about this person that xy and z and you'd be amazed.
For example, how about that reject that everyone avoids? That's the woman who was bleeding and touched the hem of Jesus. She tries to slip away, but Jesus calls her back and accepts her. He calls her back into community. Emotional wounds always take longer to heal than physical wounds, and Jesus wants to heal both. BTW, she was rejected because she had a physical issue, and Jews believed it was because of sin, so they were shunned. I can give many examples of this. (Jesus, what sin did this man commit to be born blind). There are more. But it was their culture.
Learn the stories and make them relevant. They were written for us, and they are living and active! They have the power to heal and comfort, warn and rebuke.
God Bless
