How do you witness?

What do you mean by relevant story?
Well,
At a very early age I was reading those old bible story books for children and I read the one about Joseph, and it really touched me. Why? Because I was an outcast, betrayed, lost. Instead of being thrown into a hole and sold into slavery, I went into an orphanage. Joseph's coat was a special coat, and I had special slippers for the cold floor. You see, the story was living and active, sharper than a two edge sword cutting into bone and marrow because I could identify with Joseph, even when he was falsely accused. At a young age, I just connected with him and because I connected, the story became relevant to me.

All of those stories are meant for us. We can learn so much from them and there are many of them and I like to talk about them when I can. If somebody is talking to you about something, start to think about what story relates to their situation and when you are talking about them, you can say, Yeah, I know about this person that xy and z and you'd be amazed.

For example, how about that reject that everyone avoids? That's the woman who was bleeding and touched the hem of Jesus. She tries to slip away, but Jesus calls her back and accepts her. He calls her back into community. Emotional wounds always take longer to heal than physical wounds, and Jesus wants to heal both. BTW, she was rejected because she had a physical issue, and Jews believed it was because of sin, so they were shunned. I can give many examples of this. (Jesus, what sin did this man commit to be born blind). There are more. But it was their culture.

Learn the stories and make them relevant. They were written for us, and they are living and active! They have the power to heal and comfort, warn and rebuke.

God Bless

Angel: PS: There is a lot to be said about the positive attitude behind a nice smile! :)

If someone's confidence is gained, then they may be more open to the truth of Scripture.

Blessings.

It's not so much that I am being positive, it's more showing that I care.

Stovebolts... I keep wanting to write Steve LOL

I understand now. I think that you have come very far in an amazing way! The book of the Bible that is relevant to me is Job.

StoveBolts,

thanks for the link to the site. I have bookmarked it.

Yeah thank you very much, StoveBolts! I've been watching two of the video that last 15 minutes. That guy has some inspiring thoughts. Some nice Isreal footage, too, it's a bit distracting at times. ;-)

Angel: Job is just amazing. "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in Him" (Job 13.15). Blessings.

It's a secret... Shhhh... He hears hearts and I just said amen to Deborah's message. I think Jesus did too.

I think you have to use your spiritual gifts that God has given you. Also your testimony. That is an easy one for me cause I am a former drug addict. I make an effort to seek out people with the same struggle I had and share how God set me free from it. With others that I don't have that in common with it can be scary or uncomfortable so I try to build relationships and let the person see who you are. Then when you get the opportunity to share the Gospel they are more likely to listen to you since they know you a little bit at least. Great thread by the way!

When I was young in faith, I was terrified of ministry, but I knew it was necessary so simply gave personal testimony which is very effective. As I grew, I learned that the Spirit leads and will give words instantaneously. People will usually say things or ask questions which cue you anyway. The more I read the Word, the easier it comes. Not that my knowledge is growing but my closeness to the Lord and my striving to remain in the Spirit.

A lot of times, it is wise to not say too much unless it it given to speak. We are not harvesters, but seed sowers. We sow seeds, and the Holy Spirit is a big boy and takes over from there. We may not get to see the ripple effect of what happens after we sow the seeds. Try not to over do it. At times, less can be more, if that makes sense.
I really liked your post! Especially when you talk about us being seed sowers and not harvesters. That is a great comparison.

Small children talk to each other about God.
My grandson had asked his mom what OMG meant. Oh My God!
His response was that we shouldn't say that then.

He's in the third grade and a little girl in the 4th grade would say this a lot. He told her what it meant and she didn't believe him at first until he told her his mom said so. This little girl knows my daughter as a helper at baseball practice, so then she believed him and said she would never say that again.
Last year there was a boy in his class that would bully him. He was upset and did know what to do. I made a suggestion. The next time it happened, he looked that boy in eye and asked him if he knew Jesus loved him. Turns out that boy goes to the Baptist church. That boy has not bullied him since then.

Mat_18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
