How not to sound preachy

Does anyone have any tips on how to write a piece without sounding preachy? I'm working on something and I can't seem to get the wording right

Write it as though you are talking to someone and not at someone. Kind of like if you were having a conversation with a friend...

Thanks everyone what I've done is removed the bible passages, put my summary and linked to them instead. This seems to be working
