I worked a good bit with images and presently work with DVD creation for the Church. For all graphics, including photos, I have never wanted any auto-captioning. It directly violates logic, in the first place, to produce anything that is a machine that learns without the instruction from the operator and this is one more step in that direction. The primary reasons for graphic captioning are advertising, teaching and for humor and I never see the need or a machine, running a program, to be able to do this.

If another graphic program that competes with the outrageously price Photo Shop, it will never compete with GIMP but perhaps it will draw the price of PS down to within reason but I have yet to see any program come out of the MS coffers that operates properly on release without a White Hat Hacker to correct the MS Team's errors and there are very few White Hats left today because of the price of the tools needed. I believe I'll stick with GIMP. It is, completely, cross platform anyway and I have yet to see anything produced at MS that will run on BSD Linux or Unix without an emulator.
