I get what you meant by that now i was being slow to catch on, we all are a church.

I still don't think you know what I meant.

This forum IS my church. This is the only place I fellowship with Christians.

Re: What is your church like?

I go to a babtist church . But dont class myself as one. I class myself as a christain and only go because its close. I'm thinking of finding another one or giving up going as I'm not really getting much out of it. Do we really need to go to church to be a christain, surly not.

No you don't need to go to church to be a Christian Casper.

Although some here would claim that you are not part of the Body of Christ if you're not under the authority of a pastor and an official member of a congregation. Which is completely unbiblical.

Go to this thread where we are discussing how peer pressure is working in large modern churches today:

strangelove many chrurches arent buying into that.

one of out four at the most even listen to warren.

if this is chruch then to you that's sad as you dont see the gifts and ministries spoken about in the books of the nt.

and whose to say that all these posters here are really christians. we have had imposters here that took a while to see and could quote the bible very effectively!
and whose to say that these poster actually Live the bible?
trust me its shame on me but i can quote the bible by rote memory(yes some errs) yet i dont spend much private time with the lord.

and corporate worship is needful as i know me as if i only did this church thing as you say then i will walk away and stop serving the lord.

i have done it before.

God didnt call us to be all by lonesome if we can avoid that. if so then why do the chinese risk limb and life just to see parts of the bible and fellowship with each other.

Paul didnt hide his faith and risk his life to see the believers in a group setting knowing that they or he could die while in worship (which he did when he lost his head)

its hard to hide the chruch then in each city as they stook out in the crowd as they didnt partake in that sin of idolatrty go to the many circus maximus and also call ceaser lord.

so the local towns knew where they met and they hid nothing.

Whoa. The situation is worse than I thought.

What's 'gifts and ministries' mean?

Rest of your post is a little...um....hard to read.

that is a very high estimate as really when i rethink that its one of ten.

can the gift toungues be used here online, what of exhortation, prophecy and worship. how does one worship here?
i see no call to give and worship at all here.

theres no order to what we post and service and call to repentance each and every day.
neither is the a real church bible study as that is done in a group not in private though it can be. but we dont have athiests and others unbelievers and others blatently saying stop there pastor thats not the truth in my church or any one that teaches the bible

and i will only restate this that if i only call this church then did what you did as i post by memory what i read of the bible and dont pray like i should i would easy leave the faith. i have done that to a degreee.

the church is for many things and one of those is to keep the believer in check when he or she drifts ,and how is that done via many ways one being bible study.

do you really feel the presence of God here? i havent not but others may and i have learned much but to say that it is like the time i feel at church or when the lord used faiththattransforms to restore what the enemy did to my emotions. that doesnt happen

you see many of us do talk in person here i have talked to mike the moderator and also jeff aka stovebolts(via phone) and with the later we often agree and build each other up in the faith.

i can feel his peace and place with God something that isnt so easily conveyed via text but with a voice you can tell and also the holy spirit works better with person to person contact.'

how much more so if i was with jeff in chruch would that fellowship be.

it may be possible that i shall meet jeff soon in person and mike and him have already met as they live near each other.

sometimes we need to see the life lived in front of us. my pastor weeps for the lost and cries while in worship. i being new to feeling these things and letting them out in the open need to see that.as that is healing to me as i look to him for what a christian man is supposed to be.

i am very stoic when it comes to much things. i have had to learn to feel more openly and that is not what called men to be. yes each man is different but he should let emotions show not supress them.

the gift of tounges is used for the edifification of the church body as the one person speaks in an unknown tounge and one other interprets what that means and what God says. that is for the unbeliever as it can also be their native language as it can also been tounges of men and angels or the holy spirit

on exhortation that is gift of calling men to act on what God says to do and being very persuasive at it. Paul was one of those that had that and so was barnabas.Prophecy is when the lord speaks to a person that tells it to a member or the church what God wants or also it can be an encouragement and also what the lord needs you to repent off and so on

worship is the singing of praises, giving of thanks and hymns accompanied by music.

and it can also have other things with this as in pentacostal worship.

ie the spirit of joy causing one to laugh, weeping, crying , prostration, dancing, leaping etc.

Re: What is your church like?

Some time ago, an unsuccessful forum called "Battered Sheep" informed me that I was the new moderator. I researched the subject at length, and concluded that the main reason that Christians can't get along with a church is that the leadership wants to go one way, and the Christian wants to go in a different direction.

If the problem cannot be resolved, the best idea is to leave quietly and attend elsewhere.

Definitely true If your feeling negative it might rub off on someone who is enjoying thier church experience. I left a church because o felt that way once.

The thing with church if your mindset is what can church do for me? unhappiness soon follows. When your focus is how can I serve my fellow Christians and the broader community here suddenly fulfillment follows more.

Much of your greatest satisfaction occurs while you’re performing a service for someone else.

Also your attendance at a church allows others to be able use their spiritual giftings like hospitality and helps. Being at church can be a real buzz if the holy spirit is there amongst it all and you get fresh ideas too.

my goal this month is to get into a home group/ bible study.

Forums are not churches, and neither should they be. They are places for fellowship, but that is only a small part of what a church is.

Yeah, and take the troublesome problem with them to the unsuspecting leadership there.

thanks alabaster. this forum is a great thing but i have never seen such argumentive spirits in my church nor would we argue like we do here at our respective churches.

i dont and the pastor knows that i dont agree with him on some things.

but i come there to here the word not debate the word and i admit i may be off and i will add that when i move from church i have found that something is wrong with me not the other way around.

Valid point, Alabaster. When "talking" to these folks on the Battered Sheep forum, I would refer to the two commands in Hebrews 13 about obeying the leadership. I would point out that those who have authority over you are defined as watching for your soul and have taught you God's Word. If they don't meet that description, you need to leave quietly, regardless of who is at fault.

That is uninteresting observation about church leaders as an authority.

In my experience at churches they have always spoke of themselves as servants of the church that try to do their paid or voluntary jobs using their giftings. some of them seem to give way more than they receive.

And you're scriptural support for 'unknown tongues' please? I take it this means no language that we have on Earth correct?

And then one member translates this gibberish into English correct?

on exhortation that is gift of calling men to act on what God says to do and being very persuasive at it. Paul was one of those that had that and so was barnabas.

So, correcting people on doctrine then? We do that on the boards....all the time.

Prophecy is when the lord speaks to a person that tells it to a member or the church what God wants or also it can be an encouragement and also what the lord needs you to repent off and so on

Oh I thought prophecy was the things that tell of future events in the Word of God. So you have a member in you're church who recieves prophecy? And then he tells you what the Lord wants you to repent of?

worship is the singing of praises, giving of thanks and hymns accompanied by music.

So this is prayer basically yes? Which we are specifically told to do in private?

and it can also have other things with this as in pentacostal worship.

ie the spirit of joy causing one to laugh, weeping, crying , prostration, dancing, leaping etc.

That all sounds very unnatural.

And in you're experience Vince what is the way that the 'leadership' want to go and what is the way Christians want to go. How do the two directions differ from eachother?

Let us know if you're new study group change agent...um...I mean 'group leader' likes to talk about a broad range of social issues and tries to get the members of the group to reach concensus on said issues rather than talking purely about the bible.

Re: What is your church like?

my goal this month is to get into a home group/ bible study

thats called a cell group its a good concept.

Hang on I've got an even better concept. How 'bout if we make the churches the same like armies?

Then we can have all the Privates (church members) at the bottom being kept in line by the experienced cell members (Sergeants) who report to the platoon leaders (Lieutenants) the cell leader who are under the authority of the church pastor (Captain).

Great! Then the Captains can meet regularly with regional Head Ministers (Majors) who gather and report to the head of the national ministry (Colonal) who reports directly to the global ministry head (General).

That way, when the time comes for everyone to be deceived, we have a nice solid top down command and control structure so the many can be controlled by the few and and those who are out of line can be quickly 're-facilitated' or ejected with minimum fuss and maximum control.

Fantastico? :chin
