Is digging deep the same as prayer?

humble soul

You know. when you need courage to face a difficult situation. Like a job interview for instance. Almost instinctive prayer. As you try to psych up for enough confidence.
I prayed literally yesterday to face a challenge. It helped.

You must have prayed in faith humble soul
If I have to make a hard decision and don't know which way to go, I pray for guidance.
Sometimes a verse will come into mind, or I will happen to read scripture that helps me
when an atheist digs deep to psyche up for a challenging event, they essentially pray to themselves. self confidence instead of Godly confidence.

As a Spiritually born again from above Christian I think prayer and digging deeper into the word of God goes hand in hand.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Praying is humbling ourselves before the Lord and making a petition before him in simplicity of words for whatever our need is. Jesus, as our mediator, sits at the right hand of God making intercession for the saints of God as he presents our petitions before the Father.

Prayers consist of faith, consecration and commitment. Faith is to know Gods will in what you are praying for. A good example of this is to take the subject of what you are praying for and find scripture for that to see what God has already declared. There are also conditions in a prayer of faith that could stop God from answering your prayer and that is the condition of our heart. The biggest thing that can shut down the power of God in our prayers is lack of faith, doubt and unforgiveness.

Doubt is nothing more than sin of unbelief. If you are doubting that God can move in your life and change what needs changing then nothing will change. Many of us doubted those things of God that could change our lives, but when you give faith that is the size of a mustard seed a chance to germinate in your life through the watering of his word that seed will grow to maturity in knowing that God is always in control and will give you those desires of your heart as he sees fit to do as only God knows what is best for us and his timing is always perfect.

Digging deep is about introspection and your own thoughts. Prayer can overlap this quality, but in the end no they aren't the same.

In the mists of digging into a thought (on two seperate occasions regarding two different issues), at one point in time interrupted the chain of thoughts in order to pray about what was bothering me. What happened next (in both experiences) was definately an interruption of my thought digging deep into themselves. I'm thankful that prayer is different then just digging deep.

You just reminded me of this beautiful song that we sung at church today and it really helps me whenever I start to doubt. :)
