How does Katherine Baxter know the minister went to hell?In Mary Katherine Baxter's book, A Divine Revelation of Hell, she describes a minister who spent 30 years evangelizing, but went to hell herself for murdering her unfaithful (but repentant) husband, the other woman, and herself. At no point did she actually stop believing in Jesus.
Depends on which kind of believe you're talking about. What does the bible say about this?
If you've ever read her book, over a period of 30 days (3 hours/night), God gave Mary K. Baxter visions of hell and commissioned her to write a book on her experiences. (She also had 10 days in Heaven.) She, with the Lord at her side, visited many of the damned, and knew their stories why they were there. If you don't believe in her visions' authenticity, then the reference has no meaning for you.How does Katherine Baxter know the minister went to hell?
So am I also to believe all those Catholic saints that wrote books about the same type subjects? If you've ever read her book, over a period of 30 days (3 hours/night), God gave Mary K. Baxter visions of hell and commissioned her to write a book on her experiences. (She also had 10 days in Heaven.) She, with the Lord at her side, visited many of the damned, and knew their stories why they were there. If you don't believe in her visions' authenticity, then the reference has no meaning for you.
Do you realize that this means that we're all lost?In Mary Katherine Baxter's book, A Divine Revelation of Hell, she describes a minister who spent 30 years evangelizing, but went to hell herself for murdering her unfaithful (but repentant) husband, the other woman, and herself. At no point did she actually stop believing in Jesus.
Actually, the Lord commanded Baxter to write a book of her experiences and spread it around the world. She did just that.So am I also to believe all those Catholic saints that wrote books about the same type subjects?
I'm sorry Kevin.
I'm not open to private person's personal experiences with the afterlife.
They should keep it private.
There is revelation which is meant for all of us. It's in the bible.
There is continuing revelation. That means that some biblical concepts become clearer as time goes by but they do not CHANGE.
Then there is private revelation. That's between a person and God. I do not believe this type of revelation should be shared and should be kept personal and private.
Wondering
Are you speaking to me?No-one's insisting you to believe this. Believe as you wish. I just put it out there as it relates to the original post, though in an indirect way. Some people might find it useful. Also, remember you're talking to someone who also experienced a vision.
Having read her book I had to do a lot of research. I came to the conclusion along with many others that this book is riddled with error after error, is doctrinally dangerous at best.Actually, the Lord commanded Baxter to write a book of her experiences and spread it around the world. She did just that.
What if we don't get a chance to repent?Well, I basically didn't want to get into a defense or debate situation at all. The reference to Baxter's book was intended as supplemental support, but not a cue for debate. If you don't believe her testimony, simply ignore it. But since I do have answers to those particular questions, why not?
1. So all these people who say they see Mary and she tells them how we're supposed to pray the rosary every day are to be taken seriously and so we're not obeying God? Anytime you see idolatry being promoted, and a frequent subject does happen to be Mary, God's mother but not herself a saint or deity and should not be worshipped, it's time to worry about demons.
2. And some of these saints have been to purgatory. Which would mean that Catholics are right and we're wrong. Purgatory talk is Catholic rhetoric and possibly also of demonic influence. However, we're not supposed to be debating Cat topics at all here.
3. If the minister believed in Jesus and she's in hell, it means we're all lost because we're all going to die with sin and the bible doesn't really differentiate sin. We do all start out lost and will surely die for our sins if not for a couple critical differences; the saved will repent their sins before dying, and also forgive those who have trespassed against them.
For this subject, my favorite has always been Romans 10:8-13Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
I guess you burn. What if we don't get a chance to repent?
How could that be if Jesus said He would save us?I guess you burn.
Absolutely not! Just knowing Jesus is not the same as believing in him! What does the bible say about this?
