With regard to rules, the FDA relaxed some of the qualifying requirements that are usually applied in order to speed up the process. What specifically they were I do not know but covid vaccination development and approval efforts were granted Emergency Use Authorization status and like I said, I understand why this was done but it does not give me a warm fuzzy. This is from the FDA website.MRNA has been around for over a decade. The technology is actually rather simple. Moderna had the vaccine the same day they received the sequence from Wahun but it took over a decade of research to develop it. Take the flu virus for example, they can crank those out almost at will. Why? Because they have a base to work off from.
The main focus on MRNA has been in the field of cancer research and funding has always been it’s biggest obstacle. Operation warp speed removed that obstacle and I just read an article last week where MRNA is now being used in a trial case for cancer.
Can you be specific? What rules were relaxed?
What shortcuts do you think were taken?
What safeguards do you think were ignored?
"An Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) is a mechanism to facilitate the availability and use of medical countermeasures, including vaccines, during public health emergencies, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic. Under an EUA, FDA may allow the use of unapproved medical products, or unapproved uses of approved medical products in an emergency to diagnose, treat, or prevent serious or life-threatening diseases or conditions when certain statutory criteria have been met, including that there are no adequate, approved, and available alternatives. Taking into consideration input from the FDA, manufacturers decide whether and when to submit an EUA request to FDA.
Once submitted, FDA will evaluate an EUA request and determine whether the relevant statutory criteria are met, taking into account the totality of the scientific evidence about the vaccine that is available to FDA."
What shortcuts? What safeguards? Who knows. I don't specifically know of any however, as I pointed out, we are talking about human beings and greed. To think the drive to be the first on the market and the money that would come along with it isn't enough to inspire corruption is a bit naïve.
I'm just not yet convinced these vaccines are as safe as is claimed.
