Isaiah 40:1-5: The Coming of Yahweh

“Comfort, yes, comfort My people! Says your God. Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, That her warfare is ended, That her iniquity is pardoned; For she has received from the Yahweh's hand Double for all her sins. The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the Way of Yahweh; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth; The glory of Yahweh shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of Yahweh has spoken”

We read in the Gospels:

“The beginning of the Gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It is written in the Prophets: "I will send my messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your Way", "a voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the Way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.'” (Mark 1:1-3)

“As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the Way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all mankind will see God's salvation.” (Luke 3:4-6; Matthew 3:3; John 1:23)

It is very clear from these Accounts in the New Testament, that the Prophecy is Fulfilled in the First Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

“The Way of Yahweh”, in the Book of Isaiah, is “The Way of the Lord Jesus Christ”.

In the Gospel of Luke, we have more details.

“But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, and he will go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.” (Chapter 1, verses 13-17)

In this passage, we have another Old Testament Prophecy, which is also Fulfilled in the Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

“See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of Yahweh comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse (Malachi 4:5-6)

In the passage in Luke 1, John the Baptist is the Forerunner of “The Lord”, who will “turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God”. The “Lord” here is no doubt Yahweh In verse 17 we read, “and he will go before Him”, which is John the Baptist going before the Lord Jesus Christ. The “αὐτοῦ” (Him), refers to “the Lord their God” (κύριον τὸν θεὸν αὐτῶν), as verse 17 begins with the Greek particle, “καὶ”, (and), which is continuing what has just been said, which is concerning Yahweh, Who is Jesus Christ.

Also, in Luke 1:76, we read: “Now as for thee, child, thou shalt be called a Prophet of the Most High; for thou shall go before in the presence of the Lord, to prepare His Ways”. Here also, “the Lord” is Yahweh.

These passages are clear Biblical Testimony, that Jesus Christ is also YHWH, and is a distinct Person from Elohim, Who sent John the Baptist to prepare the Way before the Coming of Yahweh, the Lord Jesus Christ.

How anyone, who says they believe and accept the Teachings of the 66 Books of the Holy Bible, as God’s Inspired, Infallible Word, can deny that Jesus Christ is YHWH, and Almighty God, after reading very clear Testimony to this fact the Bible? Either they are greatly deceived by the devil, or, their personal views of the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, prevents them from accepting what God the Father Himself Testifies concerning Jesus Christ.

The fact, that the Bible says, that the Coming of Yahweh, is Fulfilled in the Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, is clear to those who are honest minded, that Jesus Christ IS The Eternal God, and 100% COEQUAL with God the Father, in the Eternal Godhead, Divine Nature.

The Lord Jesus Christ will come with His saints on the Day of the LORD; the Day of Christ.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matthew 24:19-31

His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

your one liners are a JOKE!

You never address what is Written in the Bible, which I have very clearly shown in the OP. There is no doubt that Jesus Christ is YHWH, unless the Bible is wrong, and you are right!

The application of the title "Elohim" to the Angels and Judges, and the application of the Name "Yahweh" for the Angel of Yahweh prepares the way for an understanding of this title and Name being applied to Jesus.

There are other clues to this concept of representation. For example the Ark:
Numbers 10:35–36 (KJV): 35 And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee. 36 And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, unto the many thousands of Israel.
When they transported the Ark, did Yahweh leave His Throne and somehow inhabit the Ark?

Ezekiel 1:1–14 (KJV): 1 Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. 2 In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin’s captivity, 3 The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him. 4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire. 5 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. 6 And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. 7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. 8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. 9 Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. 10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. 11 Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. 12 And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. 13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. 14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

Ezekiel 1:26–28 (KJV)
26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. 27 And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. 28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

Ezekiel 2:1–5 (KJV): 1 And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. 2 And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me. 3 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day. 4 For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD. 5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.

Did Yahweh leave His Throne and appear to Ezekiel out of the midst of the Cherubim vision and speak to him?

Zechariah 2:6-11

“Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,’ says Yahweh; ‘for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the sky,’ says Yahweh. ‘Come, Zion! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.’ For Yahweh of Armies says: ‘For Honor He has sent Me to the nations which plundered you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. For, behold, I will shake My hand over them, and they will be a plunder to those who served them; and you will know that Yahweh of Armies has sent Me. Sing and rejoice, daughter of Zion; for, behold, I Come, and I will dwell within you,’ says Yahweh. Many nations shall join themselves to Yahweh in that day, and shall be My people; and I will dwell among you, and you shall know that Yahweh of Armies has sent Me to you

This is one of the clearest passages in the Old Testament, where we read of Two distinct Persons, Who are called, Yahweh.

Now show from this passage, that there are not TWO distinct Persons, One Who is the SENDER, and the Other, Who is SENT, Who are BOTH YHWH. This means that BOTH Persons are 100% EQUAL, as they BOTH have the SAME Name YHWH.

Perhaps they are the same two "Yahwehs" found in the next chapter, and Jude identifies the Angel with the Yahweh Name as Michael the Archangel, not God the Son.
Zechariah 3:1–10 (KJV): 1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. 2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? 3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. 5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by. 6 And the angel of the LORD protested unto Joshua, saying, 7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.
8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH. 9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. 10 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.

Jude 9 (KJV): Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

you are very wrong! YHWH can NEVER be any Created being! The Messenger of YHWH, is Jesus Christ, because He is a distinct Person from the Father, Who is also YHWH.

There is not ONE verse in the 66 Books of the Bible, that says Michael is Jesus Christ, this is demonic teaching from the Jehovah's Witnesses!

I agree, Jesus is not Michael the Archangel. Jesus is the Son of God, initially made lower than the Angels and is now exalted above the Angels. The Angels stand in God's presence, but Jesus is now seated at the right hand of God.

I am not sure if you meant Isaiah 40:1-5 or Zechariah. Perhaps this is where we are very different. When I study the early chapters of Zechariah I try to understand the context and what each vision is teaching, firstly as applicable to Joshua's time and then as applicable to the work and ministry of Jesus, or his second coming and future Kingdom. I cannot find any direct reference to Jesus, and if anything he is represented in the vision of Zechariah 3 in type by Joshua the High Priest clothed in filthy garments and standing before the Angel. Jesus is the Name of the Babe that was born in Bethlehem.

As far as Isaiah 40:1-5, yes the language is a bit difficult, but I understand that it is speaking about Jesus who represents the One God, Yahweh, God the Father.

Kind regards
Trevor

Isaiah 40:1-5 is the Coming of Jesus Christ as YHWH. Nothing to do with any "representative" of the Father!

stop trying to pervert all the passages that say Jesus is YHWH!

Greetings again SolaScriptura,
stop trying to pervert all the passages that say Jesus is YHWH!
Talking about "all" the passages, how do you understand the Vision of Isaiah 6? According to John 12 it is speaking about Jesus. Is this a vision of things as they existed in Isaiah's time, or is this a vision of Jesus in the future Kingdom?

Kind regards
Trevor

Because the YHWH in Isaiah 6 is Jesus Christ!
