I've Been Accosted By The JW's!

And they don't Kathi, two Mormons came to my door this last summer and that was the first thing i asked them, the elder looked at his protege' then the protege' looked back at the elder, at once everything came to a standstill. This is my approach others have theirs, but at least when you cut to the chase in this manner you'll have the floor.. There was somebody standing in the street and when he overheard us talking he flagged them back.. No arguing no harsh words just talk, probably couldn't find a defence in the book of Mormon?

The title of this thread suggests they were very aggressive. Were they? You should view such encounters as opportunities to witness to them.

They came to my house last week and that's what I did. For some reason they didn't want to stay long, lol...:yes :hysterical

Yeah, if I remember right the lady kinda flinched a little when I mention the name...Jesus Christ! usually older ladies like to chit chat but not this time!

A couple of years ago I was working out in my front yard.A couple of Mormons approached me.I knew who they were. They asked me if I knew God.I told them I was a Christian.I told them Jesus Christ is the Risen Son of God and He died on the cross for my sins. They just looked at me for a minute and said "Thank you for your time, have a nice day".

I used to work at a company and one time I said to my buddy/colleague something about God, Do you believe in God or something like that, and he said, I'm a JW....I should have you over for dinner sometime and we can talk over a few beers...(I think he thought I had no affiliation with any denomination and was searching)...I said cool, I don't know much about JW's, you all believe in Jesus and that he died on the cross and all that, right? He walked away without a word and I never got invited to dinner.

:thumbsup Good move.Oh no they definitely do not believe in the Jesus that we worship.

Only if you yourself hold fast to the doctrines of the Deity of Christ and the Holy Trinity.

It is axiomatic that the greater the error the more aggressive is the heretic. Check out the aggressiveness of the Gnostics and the Islamists as well as the Roman Catholic Inquisitors during the Reformation.

Yeah, I didn't even know it at the time either, lol. I was just asking a question.

When I told them I was a Christian they kept coming, but less frequently. A lot of times they leave tracts on our door when we are not home. One time I gave them one of my tracts and the man kind of glanced through it but handed it back. I told him he could keep it and read it later and then throw it away if he doesn't agree with it, because that's where the tracts end up that they leave on our door. He refused to keep it, saying he didn't want to disrespect it. I thought that was kind of odd.

The Watchtower Society makes a lot of rules, based on their interpretations of various scriptures that all Jehovah's Witnesses must follow. Members are taught that that they must turn each other in for any rule violations. If they observe another Jehovah's Witness breaking a rule and do not report him or her to the elders they are as guilty as the offending party. Anyone breaking any of the Watchtower Society rules is called before 3 elders in a private meeting that is conducted like a trial. The elders become judge and jury deciding whose is repentant and who is not.

If a member is guilty of breaking a minor rule such as associating with a worldly person (one who is not a Jehovah's Witness) that individual could be marked. This means that other Jehovah's witnesses may only speak to them at the Kingdom Hall (the name Jehovah's Witnesses use for their churches). Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to associate with a marked individual in a social setting.

I walk through a park on my way to work, and this morning my path converged with that of three well-dressed gentlemen

One of them fumbled in his bag and offered me a leaflet. Out of kindness I took it. I read the contents and it all seemed fine and dandy

But these folks seem to get a bad press. Are they even Christians?
Quote from the Jehovah's Witness Bible,
NEW WORLD TRANSLATION OF THE HOLY SCRIPTURES
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word,+ and the Word was with God,+ and the Word was a god.*+ 2 This one was in the beginning with God.
John1:18 No man has seen God at any time;+ the only-begotten god+ who is at the Father’s side*+ is the one who has explained Him.+

Compare to any Protestant or Catholic Bible, here is King James..
KJV
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Especially in verse 18 we can look at the Greek without taking prepositions into consideration. In verse 18, the word that they translate as, only begotten "god" is the word G5207 - uihos - which is son, child, or even a young animal. It in no way can be translated as "god" which in the Greek would be "theos".
So we see that they not only deny that Jesus the Christ is God but they deny that He is even the Son of God.
They believe in more than one God. They believe there is God and then there is a separate god who is called Jesus Christ.
