Most people don't know it, but the name Judas means "Jews". Is that a coincidence? I don't think so.

Judas and the Jews actually have things in common.

Judas was chosen by Jesus (John 6:70).
The Jews were chosen by God (Deut 7:6).

Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver (Matt 26:15).
The Jews betrayed God for 30 pieces of silver (Zech 11:13).

Judas regretted that he had betrayed Jesus (Matt 27:3).
The Jews regretted that they had betrayed Jesus (Luke 23:48).

Judas was replaced by Matthias (Acts 1:26).
The Jews were replaced by the church (Matt 21:43).

It seems that I am not the first one who has noticed this. Because Augustine, one of the greatest scholars of Christianity, writes: "Judaism, since Christ, is a corruption; indeed, Judas is the image of the Jewish people: their understanding of Scripture is carnal; they bear the guilt for the death of the Savior, for through their fathers they have killed Christ."

That is dangerous talk. The Sanhedrin tried Jesus and turned Him over to the Romans who crucified Him. In other words, both Jews and Gentiles were involved in His death. That makes sense, since we are ALL guilty of sin, and Jesus came to atone for all of us, Jew and Gentile.

The Bible says that all the people of Israel murdered Jesus (Matt 27:25). It was Passover on that day (Matt 26:19), so all Jews from the world were in Jerusalem because this was an obligatory pilgrimage feast (Deut 16:16).

The Romans did not want to murder Jesus because the Bible tells how Pilate wanted to save Jesus because he knew he was innocent (John 19:4). Pilate capitulated because he was afraid of the Jews (John 19:8). It was the Jews who wanted to crucify Jesus (John 19:7).

It had to happen. He died for everyone's sins. Trying to stir up animosity against the Jews is irresponsible.

Clearly all the people of Israel didn’t murder Jesus. He did have a number of followers, which included at least some of his family and some of the Pharisees. There likely were others who didn’t want him to die.

It was Jews who wanted to murder Jesus, not “the Jews.” And, yes, while Pilate feared the Jews, he still could have released Jesus. He still had an innocent man crucified; he is not innocent of the blood of Jesus.

Besides, it was God’s plan that his Son should die to make propitiation of our sins:

Act 2:23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. (ESV)

1Jn 4:10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (ESV)

Is Paul not a staunch Jewish zealot? Are the disciples not Jews? Is Jesus himself not a Jew? The first line of the entire NT starts with His Jewish root: ".... Jesus Christ, Son of David, Son of Abraham." And as a matter of fact, these days gentiles are abandoning Christ and turning to New Age mysticism, climate change and intersectionism instead, you've got the pope openly acknowledging homosexuals and drag queens at the pulpit, while a lot of Jews and muslims are embracing him.

It appears that Gal. 3:16,26,29 does make the case that the Israel of the Bible, the children of God, are now a spiritual race of people. It declares that God's people must fully accept and embrace that Jesus Christ is God. What part of that doesn't add up?

I ask because I have never seen any alternative explanation of those verses and the case that the Israel of the Bible is now a spiritual race. It also makes sense to me because no race upon the earth today has not been significantly mixed throughout the millennia. If God's people were a single race of people, they would have to have been kept pure for the last ..... 6000 years? That's just not possible.
