Aviymelek is not a Cannite....he is/was the son of Yerubba'al/Gideon and a concubine, if she had been a Cannanite, surely Yah would have said so.Yahusha had made Shechem a city of Refuge and was in the Territory of Ephrayim and Ephrayim had driven out the Canaanites except in Gezer. Yahusha also gave his farewell address to all the Tribe's of Yashar'el at Shechem. Yahusha/Joshua 24:1-35.

Is Aviymelek a type of antichrist, that's a good question, he certainly was an evil man, satan only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. And Aviymelek hated his father.

It is related to bible prophecy. Why can't anyone see the connection between satan as antichrist and Abimelech. The bramble bush of judges 9 relates to satan. In Ezekiel chapter 28, Pride was motive for satan to want the Mercy seat. He wants to be messiah. JOTHAM was speaking to men of SHECHEM and Abimelech. The bramble bush relates to Abimelech and satan. Both want position of power. Satan want's to be messiah. Abimelech want's to be Judge of Israel.

Whether one is a Canaanite, Israelite or any other "ite" if they are enemies of God then they would be classified as antichrist in which Satan works through those to come against God's own.

Abimelech was the son of Gideon, but was born to his fathers concubine making him an Israelite and a judge of Israel, Judges 8:30-31. Judges 9:1-2 Abimelech sought to rule over Shechem (Israel) by killing all the other sons of Gideon except the youngest son, Jotham. Judges 9 goes into detail about the negative ungodly example as he led by force, murdered his opposition and led in such a manner that his subjects sought to overtake him. He was the total opposite of his father Gideon as he focused on his own personal gain as he hurt and killed many in the process. This sums up what is written in 1 John 2:18-19 as Abimelech being a type of antichrist.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

1John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
