[__ Prayer __] Keeping our Apartment

Chris, Lexy's dh, moved to AZ in June, got a job right away, and rented a room in a private home while he looked at rentals for the family. She keeps looking online and making phone calls with no luck. Lexy and Jake have had to stay here with us because they cannot find anything they will be able to afford until after she finds a job as well. It's a catch 22.

Rents are expensive in my county as well. Granted, property taxes are very high, and they seem to go up every year which raises the rent.

What complicates matters in my county is that Section 8 vouchers can be as much as $1200, depending on number & gender of children and single parental income. Those not eligible for Section 8 are having problems finding affordable rental places.

Ok, well, not so good news.
The apartment complex has been renovating for quite awhile. So, they are wanting to push us out of our apartment and into a renovated one. Thing is, if we stay in our apartment, our rent is going to increase $150 dollars....
All these years they've only increased our rent $50 because the landlord understood that we're on disability. But this increase is not because of our landlord, it is because of the people that own the complex.
So...it looks like we are going to move.
My mind is going in all these different directions.
On Wednesday my parents and Matt's parents are getting together to discuss all this.
There are many things that must come into consideration with my illness. The environment is a BIG deal for my schizophrenia.
I need the Lords direction, His hand on this, and his peace.
Please pray that our future home would be of God's direction and a sense of peace to know from Him what the right place will be.
Thanks so much.
I'm scared :sad

.
Dear Sister Angel, I'm with Brother KevinK on this and have never had the Lord take something from me that He didn't replace it with something better for me. That even includes me losing a high paying job, having to move some states away and finally ending up at the job I finally retired from, and at the same time being led to Christians instrumental in leading me to know Jesus like never before. Rom 8:28.

That is encouraging, Eugene.
Maybe the Lord does have something better!
Still nervous though :p

hey angel...

I don't know how it is there, but around here...sometimes, you can buy a small place in an OK neighborhood and end up paying less, month per month, than you would with renting. I don't know what kind of resources you+Matt's people have, but...that's what my parents did for me (until the people in the neighborhood went crazy on me, lol). They bought a small mill house and a small apartment over a garage. It had belonged to this elderly lady...and her kids were eager to unload it. I lived in the garage apt. and my parents rented out the mill house. Then I left the apartment, which my parents have since sold separately from the mill house (which they're still renting out...).

Just a thought. The downside with rent is that its money that goes into someone else's pocket that you'll never, ever, see again. Most people don't even get their security deposit back. It can be quite an undertaking...my parents saved up for a while to get the downpayment, which was high enough for the monthly payments to be low-ish.

Rambling...just a thought. I don't know the real estate market where you live, so this may not even be remotely feasible. Just thought I'd throw it out there for you. :)

Hey you! We can't live in a house unless there were two or three more poeple with us. We don't want that!

You & Matt continue in my prayers, Angel :wave2

Insurance (not only on the buildings but also liability) and property taxes have gone up for landlords, hence the need to increase rents. At least the owners of your complex are putting money back into the buildings to improve them.

As a last resort (should all other options fail; been close to that myself), you could consider moving to Japan. You can get a one-room apaato in Tokyo for as low as $4-500/month. I've even seen them as low as $300, although this is a postage stamp.

Matt would never let me do that LOL
