Law vs the Love for God's Work

I had a conversation with someone who says:

His pastor asserts, "If you are arriving late to an important activity in the church such as prayer, preaching or whatever important spiritual activity, and along the way you observe the traffic light flashes red, and is counting down from 3 minutes.
Assume you are nearly the only one on the road or even if it is a very busy road, but there is a chance to manoeuvre things. What shall you do? Prove that you God and speed on?"

He told me his pastor calls such a person an unbeliever: a very wrong attitude - that traffic must be obeyed.

I don't know if his pastor is perfectly in order. Let's consider a deeper scenario where you are to deliver medicine to a patient who would die in 3 minutes time or so. Are you going to wait?

Situational ethics are slippery slopes. We are not made to serve laws. They are made to serve us. If my wife has a heart attack and the hospital is nearby, I'm speeding to the hospital. I'm beeping my horn and breaking any and all laws. That may get me a ticket but it just. If I don't know where the closest hospital is, I call for help. Simple. Red lights are meant to keep us safe. Not kill us. If stopping at a red light would mean my wife would/could die (in the emergency) I'll slow down and zoom through if/when safe to do so. Cop or no cop.
