A look at Leviticus 16, Yom Kippur,

This Parashah speaks of the solemn Moed (appointed day) of Yom Kippur. The “Day of Redemption” which is also known as the “Day of Coverings” (Yom HaKipurim). It was the only day of the year when the High Priest could enter into the “Most Holy Place” (Kadosh HaKadoshim) the “Holy of Holies”. This is where the “Aron HaKodesh” (Ark of the Covenant) was kept and where the “Shekinah” (Glory of YHVH) hovered over the “Kaporet” (the covering of the Ark of the Covenant, looking down upon the Mercy Seat.

The Parashah starts out with; “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the Ark, lest he die” Was this perhaps the reason why Nadab and Abihu died? Because they went into the Holy of Holies with their own fire? That is another thought. The high priest had to put on a special tunic, all white, of fine linen. Thus, today it is customary during Yom Kippur to wear all white, symbolic of how YHVH views us through Yeshua our Messiah, but ONLY through Yeshua, can we be viewed as “Holy unto the LORD”

We might ask why the white tunic and not the colorful kingly tunic of gold, blue, and white. One thought is that the Cohen Gadol is coming for the King of the Universe. It would be like a "king before another king." He would need to come before YHVH in a humble way, as a lowly sinner. White is the color of repentance and a desire of inner purity. So, the Cohen comes before Adonai in a humble way. When he leaves, he dresses again in his colorful tunic of gold, blue, and white. He represents Adonai before "Am Israel" as before.

Another thought is that wearing gold would remind the priest of the rebellion with the golden calf idol. Wearing that before YHVH would not be so kosher.

The High Priest had to sacrifice a bull and a ram for the sin and burnt offering. The bull could signify the “strength” of G-d, representing also Aaron and his family. and the ram, the reminder of the ram sacrificed instead of Isaac on “Mt. Moriah”. The ram symbolizes YESHUA who took our place on the cross of “Mt. Calvary”

Two goats were also present; one served as a “scapegoat” and the other the “sacrificial goat”. We see Yeshua symbolized in both goats. One was sacrificed as a sin offering, symbolizing Yeshua as our “sacrifice of sin” because we are sinners. The other goat carried symbolically our sins and was sent off into the desert, (Azazel) as “Yeshua took our sins away from us”, and as far as the East is from the West, so our sins will be separated from us.

The prayer that Aaron recited while placing his hands upon the goats was the following:

"Oh YHVH (he then pronounced the most Holy name) They (Israel) have committed iniquity, transgression, and sin. Your house, the house of Israel. Oh YHVH, cover, I implore you, their iniquities, transgressions, and sins that they have committed with evil before you, your people, the House of Israel. As it is written in the Torah of Moshe, your servant saying: "Because on this day, atonement will be made for you, and YOU WILL BE CLEANSED of all your sins before YHVH"

When Aaron came to the part "You will be cleansed" he said it with a loud voice with all enthusiasm, and the people praised God while prostrating on the ground.

Aaron then took a censor of hot coals from the brazen altar, and he took incense and put the incense on the hot coals, then, with the smoking incense, he went into the Holy of Holies and put blood on the Mercy Seat. We see our Messiah Yeshua in all of this. To have fellowship with our creator, we need to start at the cross, where our sins were judged. This is the brazen altar. The incense symbolizes our prayers that go up before our Heavenly Father, through our prayers, we have fellowship with HIM. The blood that is sprinkled on the mercy seat symbolizes the blood of Messiah, which was shed for all of our sins. Under the mercy seat are the commandments that were given on Sinai. These were broken by our rebellion, and the blood of Messiah “covers” the sins of us all, BUT, more than that, they have been REMOVED, once and forever.

While the Yom Kippur sacrifices had to be offered up year after year, Our Messiah's one-time sacrifice was sufficient for all time, and forever.
Our sins are not only covered, they were atoned for and wiped away. "Atonement" means "At One Mind" we are at "one mind" with our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach)

Ben Avraham
Hi, friend, the Yom Kippur aka "Day of Atonement" aka "Cleansing of the Sanctuary" of the OT is representative of the work of our High Priest in the heavenly sanctuary. The Old Testament ritual year consisting of the 7 Feast Days are representative of Christ's beginning and ending work in the Plan of Salvation, beginning as "Christ our Passover" and ending when He returns to gather His saints for the great and joyful Tabernacle with Him.

So, where does "Yom Kippur" fall on the prophetic timeline? Daniel 8 gives us the answer: "Unto two thousand three hundred days, then shall the sanctuary be cleansed". This revelation confused Daniel to the point of mental exhaustion and sickness, so Gabriel came to Daniel in chapter 9 and said he was there to explain the "vision" ("mareh") of the 2,300 days which so confused Daniel and immediately launched into the 70 Weeks prophecy in order to clear it up.

Gabriel said the 70 Weeks were "cut off" ("khatak") from the 2,300 Days and began with the "going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem" which was the decree of Artaxerxes in 457 B.C. Since the two prophecies are intrinsically tied by "mareh" and "chatak", the 2,300 Days must begin at the same time as the 70 Weeks.

Conclusion: By calculating these prophetic 2,300 Days (symbolic for literal years via Numbers 14:34 KJV, Ezekiel 4:6 KJV) we start at 457 B.C. and arrive at 1844 A.D. which finds Jesus in the heavenly sanctuary - the only "temple of God" in existence at the time and for all eternity - and marks the moment when He stepped from the Holy Place to the Most Holy Place and began His closing work of "cleansing the heavenly sanctuary", which directly precedes His exit from the Most Holy Place and His return for His people down here.

It is the New Testament antitype which meets the Old Testament type (Hebrews 8).

Not being an Israeli nationalist nor Jew, it means nothing to me as a day on earth.

Being a Christian being forgiven of sins and redeemed unto righteousness in Jesus Christ, it means everything to me every day on earth.

It should mean plenty to you, as a Christian. Why?

Daniel 8's prophecy of the 2300 Days which begins with the decree of Artaxerxes in 457 B.C. and ends in 1844 A.D. with the "cleansing of the Sanctuary" is a prophecy fulfilled by our High Priest Jesus Christ during His intercessory work in the Most Holy Place of the Heavenly Sanctuary.

Just as the earthly high priest would step into the Most Holy Place at the end of the Jewish Ritual Year to "cleanse the sanctuary" - these elements of the earthly sanctuary being "figures of the true" - so Jesus Christ our High Priest did step into the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary at the end of the 2,300 years of the prophecy and began the final phase of His intercessory work - the Judgment.

That's why the Jewish Encyclopedia says "the Day of Atonement is the Day of Judgment", is why Daniel saw the Judgment scene in chapter 7 at the end of time when the saints would be vindicated, and is why Revelation 14's last messages to the world includes the warning that "the hour of His judgment is come".

It should mean plenty to you, as a Christian. Why?
If someone begins defiliing the body of Christ with a false gospel. Then I'm involved. Other than that, leaders of the Jews and Muslims religion means nothing to me.

Teaching the Bible does matter to me. Sounds true to me.

The day of atonement is for them that believe, and is the day of judgment for them that do not repent.

and is why Revelation 14's last messages to the world includes the warning that "the hour of His judgment is come".
True. Up to the very last time, before the Lord begins raining plagues of tribulation on earth, men can still be saved and meet Him in the air.

True. Up to the very last time, before the Lord begins raining plagues of tribulation on earth, men can still be saved and meet Him in the air.
We must remember that the things written aforetime were written for us who will live at the end of time.

Feast Days don't point to Jews at all - in fact, nothing points to Jews. Every single ceremonial and sacrificial law pointed to Jesus and the Plan of Salvation, even down to the separation of the fat - representative of sin - from the carcass to typify both the spotless Lamb of God and also to when God would finally burn up sin and sinners out of existence, which is why God called the nasty stench of burning fat a "sweet savor" to Him.

Just as the Passover points to our Lamb of God, First Fruits points to His resurrection, so also the Day of Atonement points to Christ's ministry in the heavenly sanctuary when He would move from the Holy Place to the Most Holy Place and begin "cleansing the sanctuary" which is so important to the church. I'm proud to belong to the late 19th century Christian movement that stood firm in the face of mainstream church opposition who insisted Christ would not return for at least 1,000 years and disfellowshipped anyone who disagreed - those who understood from the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation that Jesus was coming soon and that we needed to get ready. Today, many Christians have no idea that it was only as recent as the preaching of Billy Graham that the mainstream churches gave up their silly ideas about a 1,000 year return of Christ, when he began to popularize the very message that earned Christians before him the label "heretic". I would encourage you to study into how the Day of Atonement pertains to Christ's cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary and why it's so important to the church today.

Not anymore, true. They only partook of the worldly sanctuary until the appointed time of Messiah coming in the flesh.

True. But, that burning of fat was a sweet savor to Him, when burned by faith, beginning with Abel.

True. Jesus comes to spiritual cleanse within the platter first, that the outer works may also be clean from within.

I'm proud to belong to the late 19th century Christian movement that stood firm in the face of mainstream church opposition who insisted Christ would not return for at least 1,000 years
I don't know who they are, nor care.

and disfellowshipped anyone who disagreed - those who understood from the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation that Jesus was coming soon and that we needed to get ready.
He's been coming soon since the days of the apostles of Scripture. Paul is the only one who reveals any pre-event necessary: a falling away from the Head.

But that's been going on from individuals to whole denominations.

I would encourage you to study into how the Day of Atonement pertains to Christ's cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary and why it's so important to the church today.
As I said, we are to cleanse ourselves of all filthiness of spirit, and also the flesh.

Outward works of the law are good, but without purity of heart, they are not sufficient to please God with a smell of sweet savour.

Not anymore, true. They only partook of the worldly sanctuary until the appointed time of Messiah coming in the flesh.
The first four spring Feasts pertained to Jesus' first coming, and the final three fall Feasts pertain to His Second Coming. The Trumpets blew to awaken the world to the Day of Atonement time of judgment in which we live now, and Tabernacles will be fulfilled in the Second Coming of Jesus...
True. But, that burning of fat was a sweet savor to Him, when burned by faith, beginning with Abel.
I don't know who they are, nor care.
Burning fat stinks - the reason God calls it a "sweet savor" is not because of its smell, but because of what it symbolizes: the final eradication of sin from His universe, praise God!
He's been coming soon since the days of the apostles of Scripture. Paul is the only one who reveals any pre-event necessary: a falling away from the Head.
Yes, but after the 1,260 year brutal reign of the Beast against God's people during the Dark Ages, the Christian church began to relax and entertain false eschatological and hermeneutical ideas about, among other things, the church's entrance into the "thousand years of peace" after which Jesus would come back. Anyone who believes Jesus is coming soon owes a debt of gratitude to MY CHURCH for faithfully standing for this truth while the rest of the Christian world called us "heretics" before eventually climbing on our bandwagon.
As I said, we are to cleanse ourselves of all filthiness of spirit, and also the flesh.

Outward works of the law are good, but without purity of heart, they are not sufficient to please God with a smell of sweet savour.
Amen to that, because good works don't earn us the right to enter heaven, they are merely the outward evidence that Christ has entered into our hearts...and the lack thereof proves otherwise. ;)

A look at Leviticus 16, Yom Kippur,

We might ask why the white tunic and not the colorful kingly tunic of gold, blue, and white.
The white robe is the result of how the Messiah lives,

These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Rev.7:14

His blood is his life, poured out by enduring sin against himself,

Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. Heb.12:4

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin 1Pet.4:1
One thought is that the Cohen Gadol is coming for the King of the Universe. It would be like a "king before another king." He would need to come before YHVH in a humble way, as a lowly sinner.
The opposite is true, The Messiah ascending to Heaven is where God from earth in Oneness with his Father cleanses his Temple once defiled by sinning angels.
The High Priest had to sacrifice a bull and a ram for the sin and burnt offering. The bull could signify the “strength” of G-d, representing also Aaron and his family. and the ram, the reminder of the ram sacrificed instead of Isaac on “Mt. Moriah”. The bull and ram symbolize the Messiahs' strength in mercy toward sinners who abused him.

Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. Exo.15:13
Ben Avraham:

The other goat carried symbolically our sins and was sent off into the desert, (Azazel) as “Yeshua took our sins away from us”, and as far as the East is from the West, so our sins will be separated from us.
The two goats do bith symbolize the Messiah. As a man, God put to death any fleshly desire to destroy sinners. He did this only as an example of how we should walk with him, as we all are sinners in need of his mercy.
The strong man walking with the goat released into the wilderness is symbolic of the believer who goes with our Lord in this world as his Ambassador, preaching forgivness for anyone who confesses his or her sins.

The cross is where people sinned against the Son of God. Believers are to carry their crosses, not be exempt from them.

The two goats do bith symbolize the Messiah.
Ever hear of "follow the money"? Let's "follow the sin" as we examine "type" and "antitype", shall we?

(1) A guilty man deserving death would confess his sin while laying his hand on the lamb (we confess our sins while leaning totally dependent on Jesus).

(2) The man's sin was transferred to the lamb, which now deserved death (Jesus took on the penalty for Himself to save man).

(3) The man's sin was carried by the high priest into the earthly sanctuary and sprinkled their as a record before God causing it to be polluted and made necessary the cleansing of it (the record of man's sin was carried into the heavenly sanctuary by our High Priest Jesus where it is also recorded there before God - and having polluted the heavenly sanctuary, it has also made necessary the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary "with better sacrifices" than those which cleansed the earthly sanctuary).

(4) The earthly sanctuary was cleansed by a ritual that caused the record of sin to pass from the earthly sanctuary to the Scapegoat at the cost of the sacrifice of the Lord's goat, which then was led helplessly into the wilderness to die defenselessly from predators (Upon completion of our High Priest Jesus' ministry in the heavenly sanctuary, the record of sins of the redeemed that now pollutes the heavenly sanctuary will pass from it to Satan who will suffer and die for them, resulting in the final eradication of sin and sinners from God's universe).

That's why Satan tries so hard to turn Christians around - he knows the lost will suffer for their own sins in hellfire, but HE WILL SUFFER NOT ONLY FOR HIS OWN SINS but he will also bear the burden of the record of sins of the redeemed, so the less he has to bear, the less suffering he'll endure before he and the rest of his followers pass out of existence and will be no more.

We lean on the mercy of Jesus because he endured sin against himself without having his enemies put to death.
On the day of atonement, sinners confessed before the living goat.

Right, the Lord's Goat was sacrificed in order to cleanse the sanctuary which symbolically transferred the pollution of sin in the sanctuary to the Scapegoat, which was not sacrificed to the Lord, but was led out to die in the wilderness. That's why the Lord's Goat represents Jesus and the Scapegoat represents Satan.

The scapegoat doesn't represent Satan. The scapegoat is symbolic of our Savior, who was looked at as evil by sinners, not by our Father.
The Messiah wasn't suffering in stead of mankind. He suffered in place of our Father. He suffered as the Representive of our Father. He is the express image of our holy Father, not unholy mankind.
Jesus teaches us to love our enemies so we'll be like him, because he's like our Father.

The scapegoat doesn't represent Satan. The scapegoat is symbolic of our Savior, who was looked at as evil by sinners, not by our Father.

The Scapegoat was to bear the record of sin which polluted the sanctuary into a "land not inhabited". There's nothing in this Scapegoat "type" that can be associated with any "antitype" fulfillment by Jesus:

1. He was not "led" to do anything - He willingly bent down to walk humbly and carry the Cross for us.

2. He didn't enter a "land not inhabited" - He "came unto His own" to a land given them by Him.

3. He didn't end up devoured prey in "a land not inhabited" - His journey ends with His rule over the Promised Land.

4. Jesus "bore" (past tense) our sins on the Cross - He no longer bears them because His sacrifice has transferred them into the heavenly sanctuary.

The Scapegoat "will bear" (future tense) the record of sin that now pollutes the heavenly sanctuary.

Jesus "bore", the Scapegoat "will bear" - right or wrong?

Since Christ suffered once for the sins of man, bearing them on the Cross once and for all - and since no where does it say Jesus will bear them again, therefore the Scapegoat cannot be Jesus.

My friend,
You're thinking of "bearing sin" as enduring punishment for it, instead of because of it.

For Gods' sake, will you look at what the law says in Deu.19:11-13? Conspiring and putting an innocent man to death is sin.
Jesus bore that sin and many others.
He turned the other cheek for our welfare, not enforcing the law against lawbreakers.

Jesus doesn't represent sinful man. He represents his Father,

Passion for your house has consumed me,
and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. Psa.69:9

In sinning against the Son they sinned against our Father. Ok? He came to his own Creation and his own creation "received him not." Jesus said he came in his Fathers' name. So now, we can flush the "Jesus came in place of man theory" down the toilet.

The "land not inhabited" is where our risen Lord goes (in Spirit) with a "fit man" (faithful believer) into the wilderness (world.) Sins can only be taken to an uninhabited land when sins are forgiven and forgotten.

His journey doesn't end with his rule over the Promised land, because his rule has no end. What the Messiah shows us is that he has always ruled over all.

And the reason people don't understand this is because they confuse Gods' mercy for his justice. Jesus showed our Fathers' mercy. Jesus didn't show our Fathers' justice, or sinners would have been toast. Ok?

If you can't understand what I'm saying, you won't understand the rest.

If Jesus is the Scapegoat, that means He will bear mankind's record of sin a second time.

The Scapegoat CANNOT be Jesus.

No, it means he did it once as an example of how much sin God endures from people who hate him. And since we follow him, we may endure much sin from people who hate God. Then, we can really learn how deep Gods' love is by loving those who hate God (and us for loving God)....instead of beating their stupid brains in....like Jesus didn't do.

Jesus appeared human, but loved us as God does.

I'm not sure how the above disproves my assertion that if Jesus is the Scapegoat, that means He will bear the sin record of mankind TWICE, once on the Cross and a second time at the end of time as the Scapegoat.

Therefore, Jesus CAN'T be the Scapegoat, seeing that He's through with bearing the record of mankind's sins - now, He is the INTERCESSOR between God and those who by faith put their trust in Jesus.

Beating Jesus was sin. He bore that sin and many others.

Yes, He bore them only ONCE - at Calvary. He bears them no more, but intercedes between God and man as High Priest. That's why Jesus can't be the Scapegoat - the record of sin which now pollutes the heavenly sanctuary will be removed from it and placed upon the back of the Scapegoat. Now do you understand?
