Literal or not?

H

His reflection

Guest
I am very concern about the Bible and what it says, what i would like to know is the bible to be taking literally or is there a line the we should not cross?
2Cor6:13 Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto [my] children,) be ye also enlarged.
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,
what dose separation means, is it just an idea from Paul to a specific set of people?

When I think about it, It seems that all he is describing is how we must leave our unclean life style and separate ourself from it. Christ taught that.

1 John 2:15-16 talks about loving the things of the world and how we are not to get caught up in it. I think this is what Paul is telling the Corinthians in 6:13-17. If you continue into chapter 7 you will see what I mean.

Also, consider Matthew 24:40 and Luke 17:36. This would indicate that Christians are to continue to live in the world, but not be given to it.
