“Living With Great Expectations”

1 Peter 1:3-4 NLT

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.  Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

I think it’s safe to say we have all had many past experiences with having high expectations in various situations only to have those hopes dashed away for whatever...

I think that hope, hoping for things is ok. But being let down by something you had hoped for is part of the process. Sometimes the best things come when we don't expect. Sometimes you are hoping for something and something better comes around the corner. We must deal with hope in our own way. Great expectations are great expectations. You should read about Christian Manifest destiny.

Give an example of a best thing you have unexpectedly received.

Same thing happened to Apostle Peter

Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat." Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean" Acts 10:13-14

God sees things differently.

But the voice spoke again: “Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.”

God never fails. Our expectations should be ready to succumb to God's adjustment.

Matthew 5:20
But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

I remember once I was grieving over a lost relationship when I suddenly met someone on the way back home. One thing led to another and suddenly I was in a relationship with someone else. This came about very unexpectedly but I was happy it did so.

That is it?
