Hello, I'm sort of new at this whole entire Bible reading thing and I need some help finding some scriptures that I am really interested in before I get started. First of all if you have any scriptures having to do with doubting your salvation I would really like those. Second of all, I would like the verses talking about Jesus' brothers and sisters, and third of all I am looking for the verses when Satan turned against God and was banished from Heaven for it because I heard that he used to be God's most beautiful angel at one point. So yeah, if anybody could help me out I would really appreciate it! :biggrin2

Isa 14.... quoted from the mesage

1 This is where your pomp and fine music led you, Babylon,
to your underworld private chambers,
A king-size mattress of maggots for repose
and a quilt of crawling worms for warmth.

12 What a comedown this, O Babylon!
Daystar! Son of Dawn!
Flat on your face in the underworld mud,
you, famous for flattening nations!

13-14 You said to yourself,
“I’ll climb to heaven.
I’ll set my throne
over the stars of God.
I’ll run the assembly of angels
that meets on sacred Mount Zaphon.
I’ll climb to the top of the clouds.
I’ll take over as King of the Universe!”

15-17 But you didn’t make it, did you?
Instead of climbing up, you came down—
Down with the underground dead,
down to the abyss of the Pit.
People will stare and muse:
“Can this be the one
Who terrorized earth and its kingdoms,
turned earth to a moonscape,
Wasted its cities,
shut up his prisoners to a living death?”

Uh thanks I guess. I'm not quite sure how that had to do with the scriptures I was looking for but I'll still give it a read anyway.

In the King James

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Alright thank you both an awful lot! :hug Ezra I was going to message you back on the other thread but you were way to quick for me lol :lol

First of all if you have any scriptures having to do with doubting your salvation I would really like those.
I'll just see if these following scripture addresses your first concern somewhat.
New Living Translation
Rom 7:15 I (Paul) don't really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don't do it. Instead, I do what I hate.

New Living Translation
Rom 7:20 But if I do what I don't want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.

New Living Translation
Rom 8:1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. (I would ask what should condemn you more than doing all things that you hate?)

Thanks Eugene! :hug

Hello, I'm sort of new at this whole entire Bible reading thing and I need some help finding some scriptures that I am really interested in before I get started.

Personally, I would recommend that you begin with the Sermon on the Mount given by Jesus, found in the book of Matthew chapters 5 thru 7.

I have an app on my computer that I use when I want to look up scripture. Ezra provided a link to an online site that you can search. If you don't yet have a Bible, then I am sure that your pastor will give you one at your Baptism. If he doesn't offer you one, just ask. In the mean time, if there is specific scripture that you would like to view, then just ask. I'm sure that Eugene or reba would be happy to post it for you if no one else has done it first. I think with certain tags, they can even make it display different versions of the same passage.

First of all if you have any scriptures having to do with doubting your salvation I would really like those.

You are not interested in scriptures that have to do with doubt. You are interested in scriptures that will build your Faith in Christ. There is no doubting. Do you hear me? By the way, you have nothing to be afraid of at your baptism, that is unless you have a fear of a little water. :biggrin2
Just remember, Christ receives you as you are. Your Baptism is an announcement to the world that You are HIS.

God Bless

Thanks I have a Bible that I was actually going to start reading. The thing is that it's a Message Bible so anything posted on here has to be simple for me to understand. And yes you're right, I definitely want to strengthen my faith in Christ. :cross I will go look up those verses that you posted now then. :bible

I got my Message Bible right here I was looking up other things first. My only problem with reading and studying my Bible is that I don't know how to do it properly. Seems silly I know, but I don't know exactly what I should read from where and how much. I will look up Matthew now though. I was reading along with this video I found on YouTube to help me understand it better and I also really like the part about asking and you shall receive. There's also these Bbile quotes that I'm looking for that my brother read to me about every part of the human body has a purpose or something of the sort.

Ok my wonderful questioning Sister. I'll take each of your questions....Question 1. "First of all if you have any scriptures having to do with doubting your salvation I would really like those.".... In the Scriptures, one of Jesus' Disciples named Thomas DOUBTED that Jesus had resurrected from the dead....John 20:24 Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came.
20:25 So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe."

John 20:26 Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you."
Joh 20:27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe."

John 20:28 Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!"
20:29 Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

So, what we have here, my special Buddy is, "doubting Thomas." He's the king of doubt. Please notice that without seeing, Thomas doubted. As soon as he saw, he believed....The wonderful thing about not doubting is, You have the Scriptures that do not lie. They (Scriptures) were written by Jesus from Genesis to Revelation and Jesus never lied!! O my Buddy, Jesus and I love you so very much, we say, believe Jesus because He is the "Way, Truth, and the Life....I hope this helps.

Question 2. "I would like the verses talking about Jesus' brothers and sisters.".... Matthew 13:56 - "Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?
Mat 13:56 And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?"
.... This Scripture is evidence that Jesus had Brothers and Sisters....Mark recorded the same thing.

Question 3. "I am looking for the verses when Satan turned against God and was banished from Heaven for it." ....
Isaiah 14:12 "How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low!
14:13 You said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north;
14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.'
14:15 But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit."

I hope these answers are what you were looking for. If you have further questions, I'll be happy and blessed to help you. :hug

By the way. IMO, the best Bible for you is the English Standard Version (ESV). If you can afford it, get the "study edition" You'll love the simplicity and textual reliability of the (ESV).
