Jesus gives a analogy in Luke chapter 16. The Richman and Lazarus. When Lazarus died, angels brought him to bosom of abraham, in paradise. But the Richman also died, and was in hell. Theirs a Gulf that separates paradise and hell. Neither side can cross over. Question is, why did Richman end up in hell?? Psalm chapter 49 speaks of rich people who put their trust in wealth and not God. Could this be the answer?. Proverbs, pride goes before destruction. Can this also be another answer? Matthew chapter 18, Jesus says we must be as children to enter kingdom of God. First Peter 1:8. And a stone of stumbling, and a Rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient; God looks at your spiritual condition. Could studying under church who teach tradition of men and false doctrine pollute your spiritual condition. Does God approve of those who mix heathen traditions with true worship of God? Epistle John tells us not to receive anyone in your house who brings different doctrine and not to BID them God speed. Is traditions of men a stumbling block, and another answer to why someone ends up in sheol, called hell??

Yes pride, and trust in the goods of this world also lack of charity 1 cor 13:2 all faith without charity avails nothing, no charity for the poor hungry Lazarus
Duet 6:4 love of God
Matt 25 charity
Lazarus was in limbo or Sheol or Abraham’s bosom cos heaven was closed due the sin of Adam, in the temple the holy of holies represents heaven and the veil the fact that it was closed till the death of the redeemer
See Jn 3:5 cannot enter the kingdom with the grace of baptism merited by Christ

Hope this helps

In his parable about Lazarus and the Rich Man, Jesus didn't say anything about the reason why the Rich Man ended up in hell. Why speculate, then? The point of the parable was to offer a description of what happens immediately after a person dies and remind us that wealth and social standing have nothing whatever to do with one's eternal destiny, nor does one's affiliation with a God-fearing religion (like Judaism). It also speaks to Christ's death and resurrection which many Jews would spurn (vs. 30-31, John 1:11), though his Messianic coming and death were prophesied to the Jews in the writings of Moses and the prophets (ie. Isaiah 53).

The parable was spoken to Jews by one raised in Judaism before the Atonement of Christ at Calvary, saying nothing of redemption in Jesus, being born-again from above, etc. . These facts have an important bearing on how one should understand the parable. Mainly, it points at the things likely to bring Christ's Jewish audience to the same eternal condition as the Rich Man.

Why is this an analogy?
Why do you believe the story of the Rich man and Lazarus is made up?

Would Jesus not have knowledge of history and be able to use an actual example?

The rich man didn’t believe there was any life but the one he was enjoying. He didn’t believe there was judgement or hell. He didn’t believe Moses and the prophets.

Parables of the Kingdom of Heaven, are the righteousness of the Kingdom of Heaven, compared to the unrighteousness of earth. ( that is why Christ is on earth telling them here.)

So the rich man had no compassion or mercy for the poor man, one received good in life, the other received evil.

Now the poor receives comfort, and the rich torment. ( consolation prize, and WOE IS TO THE RICH.)

Luke 6:24 But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Belief in Christ, is belief in the mercy of our God, not as the rich who show they believe in no such mercy, no such kindness nor love, they are yet foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another..

Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
