I was startlingly impressed at the glaringly opposite contrasts some of the kids attributed to each of the dolls. Barbie seemed to elicit images of the negative stereotypes of the typical cliquish "cheer-leader" kind of girl, while the Lammily doll brought out emotions of the kind of girl they could see as a good friend.
Shrinks are going to love this new tool.
I was more of a stuffed animal person, but I did play with Barbies sometimes. But animals have always been my passion.never liked dolls except for bb gun targets..never saw any good reason to set around taking doll clothes off and on..
marbles .. pockets knives.. baseball ...building forts..... bikes ...more my style...
The new doll is really nice...
Some folks could do a great job of making clothes for them![]()
I have some of my mom's old Barbies from the 70's, actually. I don't have any use for them anymore because I'm too old for them, but she doesn't want me to get rid of them.My mom saved her Barbie dolls from her childhood and gave them to my daughter. They look nothing like the Barbie of today. They are not out of proportion with legs and the waist being so small. The ones my daughter has also look younger, as in more childish.
I forgot to mention that my mom's dolls were from the 50's or early 60's.I have some of my mom's old Barbies from the 70's, actually. I don't have any use for them anymore because I'm too old for them, but she doesn't want me to get rid of them.
I couldn't say for sure how they are without looking, but the ones I have aren't too different from the ones we have today from what I recall. Mainly the clothing style is reflective of it's decade.
Interesting...those don't look much different than the ones today. Maybe the ones that belonged to my mom were a different version made for younger girls or maybe a different brand.
You climbed trees and shot BB guns?I had a Terri Lee doll ... never played with her...
Lol, really. Was yours a Red Ryder? My brother and I had those and we could put these little berries in them that grew on some kind of cedar tree. We could play "War" because we could actually shoot the berries at each other without getting hurt unless you were to get hit in the eye. I guess it was as close to what paintball is today.YUP .. did you know you could shoot a kitchen match out of a BB gun .. if ya hit your brother just right it will strike scuff it over his levis...
Paintball actually hurts and the welts will bleed. You could purchase a cheap airsoft gun and it would be like a BB gun, but the more expensive airsoft guns might kill someone.Lol, really.
