My Cat

Those dogs are total wimps.

The TOG

My dog is such a pacifist, that the other day, a squirrel walked right under him to be fed some nuts I always carry with me. (He's a lot like me... just pleasant to get along with, and loves everyone.) Yeah, right !

my Cheyenne, lol. the antics she does.

Had a kitten who, after bouncing off the walls, landed directly in front of my Rottweiler, who was laying down on her favorite rug, trying to snooze. That adorable kitten wrapped his front paws around my dog's nose, licked the tip of the nose, then bit that nose before jumping away to go bounce off walls again.

My poor Rottweiler came crying to me for comfort. She was a dog who wasn't afraid of much - just hot air balloons - but she sure wasn't all that certain about the kitten. As for the kitten, he absolutely loved the dog. He would wait until she was asleep, then he would curl up with her. He played on her sympathies so she would lick his head.... he spent the 2 years they shared in absolute delight with those huge tongue licks. He grieved for a very long time after she died of old age. It was so sad.

I have three cats and until this week I had two dogs but Lacy, my bed partner in my old age had a heart failure on the way home from the vet and we burried her under the Post Oak in the front yard. I love all of them but dogs do afford more comfort for the blues and depression.

One of the many rodents my youngest had while growing up was a gerbil named Jack. Jack was a great match for our cat who bounced off the walls (until the age of 14). Jack was a clever escape artist, and when he found his 'freedom,' he deliberately sought out the cat. You could see it in Jack's eyes the focused search for the cat.

Seeing the picture, Lewis W, reminds me of how Jack would crawl all over our cat without any danger. It was because of Jack that we learned there was a spot behind one of our cat's ears that was extremely ticklish :biggrin2

Actually, I love dogs as well as cats, but I just can't stand all the barking.
Maybe it's that I don't like the competition.

Throughout the past sixty years I've had friends that were snakes, spiders, fish, dogs and cats but the four that have meant the most aremy half breed Bob Cats, Snowball and Tigger and two dogs, Lacy and Delilah. Snowball, bless his heart, would never have survived had I not found him and stole him and the female Tigger from where the mother Bob Cat had them stuffed. Snow Ball was stone white wxcept for his black nose and Tigger was standard Bob Cat Camo colored. I never, ever, tried to tame them but played with them with stuffed winter coats and welder's gloves.

They never bothered me with barking but they didget blood and gore all over the window and wall where the thief tried to come through the window. Even the Officer was amazed. The bad part was that the burgler left the window open and Tigger was run over in the through-fare I lived on.
