[__ Prayer __] my parents' health

my parents are...amazing people. really. my only problem is...

they duck and dodge doctors, when possible. :-(

cannot say i blame them, completely. this area has something of a doctor shortage. the family doctors' waiting rooms are often filled to the max, and if one wasn't not sick with some kinda bug going in...

chances are fairly good that one will be, coming out. blah.

having said that, i get worried. they've both gotten some 'stuff' dealt with, by specialists. i think+hope everything is OK...I kind of doubt they'd say much, if it wasn't is the thing. but...

dad is healthy. he even looks younger than his age by a good bit, so...I'm thankful. mama, too...just a tad past 60, she looks to be not yet 50, and I'm thankful. thing is...

--i get worried-- i get worried because they're not doing routine physicals with a family doctor, they're not doing the blood work recommended for their age group, and...and...

blah. im hardly one to talk, given my own avoidance of....physicals and blood work (LOL)...but it worries me, especially when one of them has a severe headache ("no, i do not need urgent care" and "no, i will not to go the doctor") and such. they have good, possibly very good, insurance coverage and such...

and i get worried. cant help it. so, please pray that The Lord will show mercy and grace to them. thanks. :)

praying for their health - strength - safety

just got back from a dinner at their place. kind of a praise report in an of itself...just my dad and me, went well. mama was upstairs with a migraine. anyway...

dad said she promised to bring it up (wait for it, wait for it...) at her next doctor's appointment. so there you go. :)

yeah...i hear ya, lisa-in-fl...

i just wish they'd do more routine blood work, that kinda thing. oh, and there's this one thing mama takes a lot...there's an over the counter version, but there's also an Rx version. with their insurance, the Rx version would actually be -a lot- cheaper (its generic), and they don't have to pay much for family doctor visits, so...

yeah. yeah. i think maybe she's gone to the dr., though (?), because I saw an Rx bottle with a generic of what she was taking...I didn't talk to her about it, though.

basically, i just want them monitored, that's all. im more about the preventive (I think that's the term) care end of things than anything else...they're actually quite healthy, thank goodness. :)

thanks. i think...well, not to get all psychobabble-y about things, but...I think part of it might be that they don't like getting older...and they still think of themselves as in their early 30s or so. LOL. but...

i dunno, they also have some points. I mean, I'm into Orthomolecular, right? nothing crazy...mostly high dose vitamin C and some other basic vitamins, with an aim mostly to maintain health and reduce the need for drugs, whether over the counter or Rx. there are Orthomolecular-inspired providers who are gung ho about vitamins and everything instead of Rx stuff, but that's increasingly rare. the original OM people had MDs, DOs, so they were more about prevention, good health, etc. rambling...

point is, I skim over OM material, now and then. They are -very- quick to point out that its very, very difficult to harm or destroy someone with most vitamins...

but 10s of thousands of people in the US die each year from what is currently 'standard treatment'--drugs, more drugs, surgeries, etc. blah. speaking as someone in the mental health system, I've gotta say...I don't think that # includes the 'severely mentally ill,' which is another reason i take the vitamins (to reduce toxicity from psych drugs...seems to help, a lot). ok. anyway...

point is, they're healthy, by God's grace. mama had a couple scares; with specialist treatment, she's good to go now, no cancer or anything. dad sees a specialist for some stuff, not cancer, either...

so, as much as I worry and everything, looking at the data, its also kinda like...well, thank goodness they're not loaded to the gills on Rx and/or OTC for every real and imagined problem, right? right...

and I think they're warming up to supplements. they won't do what I do, but I think people dad knows recommended some $$$ (to me, anyway) supplement that's basically anti-aging, blah blah blah. I think its over-priced, -but- if it helps them...awesome. I mean that, seriously.

ok. I Praise God for my parents' good health and pray He continues to spare and bless them. :)
