mysterious flashes of light, tingling in hands....?

Hi.....have recently come back to Christ after 3 years...something strange happened last night....I was laying in bed with my earbuds in listening to Christian music with the light off...was staring at the wall across from me and getting into the music and suddenly a little ball of white light flashed in front of that wall and kinda went in an arc and disappeared and I could feel a lot of energy in the room....I was in shock so I just laid there.....then after less than a minute another one just like it appeared and did the same thing....I felt that the Lord was telling me to pray about my boyfriend because I hadn't heard from him in three days....while I was praying my hands were tingling and I could still feel the energy in the room....after I was finished praying there was a flash of orange-yellow.light beside me but I didn't see a source....I was also speaking in tongues while I was praying....can anyone give me some insight on exactly what was taking place? Even when I was a new Christian and saw supernatural things on a daily basis I never saw anything like this....just wanna hear what everyone has to say......

Satan technically still would be an angel even if he has gone a little bit off the rails. From what I know of the Talmudic lore his name is an arch angel called Samael and would likely take on a form of general badassness he would be messing around with pleasant glowing lights and tingling sensations.

But it could be a minor angel/good spirit though there is the possibility that there is a natural/scientific explanation for it as well, there is no way to be able to say for certain.

Could be nothing at all; could be your imagination, or maybe your eyes just trying to adjust to the present dark conditions of the room. I believe if God wants to show you something HE'd do it in a clear way.

Good a thing you prayed tho. If its from God HE'd not keep silent. HE'd show you another in a clearer way.

I'm with Edward on this one. Since there was no confirmation as to the origin of this supernatural event. I would treat it with caution. I would suggest that you ask the Holy Spirit through Jesus that He give you the interpretation of tongues. I have experienced my hands heating up. Usually it occurs when God wants me to enter into a healing experience, but not always. There are two sources of supernatural events, God and Satan. I have found that God does not keep me guessing. There are two sources of supernatural events, God and Satan. I have found that God does not keep me guessing. If I don't know the source, I forget about it.

This would be the correct answer. Every time the anointing or the power of God comes in the room, I know it's God, no guessing. If it's devils then I would just ignore them, I had been stopped once by a stupid devil from ministering to someone and I have a scar on my nose from another time so It would not be uncommon to have one try to keep you from concentrating on praying.

If your suppose to pray for someone then You pray through in tongues until you get that release inside, You should not be paying much attention to thoughts or outside disturbances.

It is also possible you had seen part way into the realm of the spirit "Gift of spiritual discernment" Whatever the Case, what Chopper said, forget about it.

Anything that appears while you're praying to God in tongues or listening to Christian music is unlikely to be demonic to be fair so I wouldn't be too cautious. Also they probably wouldn't appear as white balls of light, a fiery skull like in Doom or something sure.

Totally right. Thanks for pointing out this truth. Satan can never be the opposite of God. I used to think so. He Being the opposite of GOD would not only mean to elevate him but to also make him GOD's equal on the left side. -1 and 1 are equal and opposite. They can keep cancelling each other out.

He isn't necessarily the most powerful being in existence other than God either as he is officially ranked by the Church as a Power.

That is something you will have to always remember because it applies to every circumstance where you wonder about the source of any event. I have come to recognize the impression in my mind that comes from God. Sometimes He tells me to warn a person, sometimes He tells me about someone who is sick or in a situation that they can't get out of. In each case, what He tells me has to come out exactly like He told me. I remember in the O.T. He said something like this, "My prophets say thus says the Lord when I don't say it". I have always remembered it and that has been my caution. There are three impressions that come to my mind. One is my own thoughts, another is God's, and one is Satan's. I know how my thoughts get there and God's, but have no idea how Satan can plant thoughts in my mind. Perhaps Edward or Mike can explain it. Here's a case in point. God spoke to me about a man in our church. He was an important person on our worship team. It's been so long, I can't remember exactly what God told me to warn him about (being honest) He was involved in something that God was displeased about. It is so good to hear that there are people here on the forum that actually know they are suppose to hear God. This is sad that the man did not take the life raft God sent him through you. I have had several times where the Lord tell me something, however I have learned that unless the Lord specifically tells me to tell them then I don't. If you tell them, then they are responsible for it and I would rather pray for them than tell them. Sometimes you have to tell them though and it's a word in season.

Any Word you give someone that is nor received is a word spoken in the wrong season and it offendeds them. James says your not a perfect man in that case and blew it.

Thoughts and Satan:

How the devils speak to us is in our heads, they mind the things of man and effect and pull on mans thinking. God speaks to us though our born again spirit, and not in our heads, this is why you can pray in tongues and write something, but you can't speak in English and write something different.

This is why we are told to cast down thoughts and imaginations that don't line up with the Word of God.

So, all the devil can do is throw thoughts, ideas and see which ones we take the bait on. This is why we are told to resist the devil. Devils have no clue as to what you will act on or speak. All they can do is just throw darts and see which ones stick. They have to find something inside you to pull you. We are drawn away by our own lust, not the devil's lust. That is why we take the fall for something the devil kept sending thoughts about.

Some thoughts we get are just so far out there we cast them down....................... "Go rob a bank.....".........."Kill your wife..."
Where those thoughts come from? We cast those down right away and can't even believe we would think such a thing, but it was not us that put the thought there in the first place.

then the devil comes in and tells you that something must be wrong with you because you thought about killing your wife. Go kill yourself? How could you even think that and be a Christian? See, you have suicidal thoughts and you must not love God inside your heart to even think that. Your a bad Christian!!!!

A good church should teach these basic fundamentals so that believers can at least understand how to walk in victory, sadly................... that does not seem to be the case.

I just recently learned that. Just because the Lord tells one something doesn't mean it should be recounted. It is easily taken the wrong way. I learned that the hard way, like most things.

Seems the school of Hard knocks teaches well. I have learned to follow exactly what I hear from God, I don't add, and I don't take away. We love to add to fill in the blanks.

I am thinking about buying this expensive item. I know I will be behind in bills if I do, but then again I can just be a bit late on them. I really want the item.

Then I hear the Spirit of the Lord say.............. "Go to Walmart"

BAM!!! that settles it for me!!! The Lord wants me to have it, wants me to buy it!!! I get to Walmart and meet someone I know, they are down so I encourage them and send them away happy, I then go get my expensive Item. WoW!!! two birds with one stone!!!!

A month later I am sitting at home and I can't even use my expensive item because the power got turned off. I know I heard the Lord to buy it, what went wrong??? How could God tell me to buy something and the power get shut off so I can't even use it??

Been there, done that and more than once!!!!!! (Sad it has been more than once several times)

The Lord told me I was getting a house, be in faith for it. Just then my Wife's parents wanted to move to Branson with us and buy a house with us. The Lord said if I follow him exactly we won't miss it and here it was, someone was going to get a house with us.

We never checked back in with the Lord about the house, we took the first thing that came in the form of a house and it all ended horribly, we got off the plan of God for over 2 years because of this deal, lost the house, fractured our relationship with the wife's parents, My Wife's dad ends up in Jail and we are back where we started.

I may need an ice cream cone, the Lord may say there are many Ice creams over here, go there. When I show up there may be many ice creams to choose from but bless God I am not taking one until I hear the Lord say take it.

Exactly. But it was the way I said it without thinking. The Lord said...and...got the ol' oh that cop out huh? And I knew my mistake. Some people do claim to have a special revelation of the Spirit to try to push and "prove" their view, without it being able to be proven. I've seen people do this, and knew it was a lie because it wasn't scriptural what they said the revelation was.

If you think about it, everything we understand in the Word is God causes the increase. Even simple things................ So anyone claiming a special revelation needs to be fitted for a straight jacket because using the name of the Lord to prove a false thing is nuts!!!

Ya, I have run into these folks also......... Most the time I don't share a vision or something directly said from the Lord because of this, I just grab the scriptures He gave me and expound the way he did. That is teaching anyway or should be, just expounding on the scriptures as the Lord has given you light.

I try to avoid those "Thus saith the Lord unto Me" because everything we understand had been a thus saith the Lord anyway, as Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. Not us.

I really like what you and Edward have been saying. My safeguard is 2 Corinthians 10:5 "We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ." From what I know about Jesus, His life and how He did things (the Gospels) and His commands, I have a very good idea if something is Godly or not.

Just check you spirit man. The devil is sneaky. Go rob that bank though is very blatant. Cast that down real quick. The man that thinks............. It would solve a lot of things, How would I get away.... that man is in trouble.

I use to watch those forensic science shows. They find a body, they vanish, whatever and they take DNA and hair and dog teeth to figure out who done it. A good clean show that was very informative (Well, entertaining)

Fear had gotten in through those shows. Mike does not have anything to do with fear but there it was.

Fear is Faith in something to harm you that has yet to happen. That is what faith really is. Faith in God's word is in God to bless you and see you through, expecting it to come to pass.

All the Glory be to our good God. Remember that you can't fight thoughts with thoughts and you need to replace the fear sown in with the Word which means meditating on the Word and driving any fear out from inside.

Psalm 138:8 God perfects those things that concern me.
Deut 28: My wife is blessed going in and going out, she is blessed at the store.
Gen_31:49 And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.

I would say just cherish and enjoy the moment for what it was and don't try to read to much into it let alone try to figure out some deep meaning behind it. God will show you when the time is right... all this chatter just muddies the water and could put ideas into your head never intended.
