Maybe this should go in politics or whatever. I don't know anything about Obamacare. Can someone give me a basic rundown of what's going on? Are our healthcare costs in the US going up or down?

My health care has increased approximately $100 per month this year. I will say that over several years it continued to go up, and so it is hard to say what exact portion of that can be attributed to our president. It is also a fact that with such escalation of cost of living , many, myself included receive an increase in wages. or retirement benefits the following year.

My present health care including dental is $1566 per month which includes my wife. The old cliché "It ain't easy being easy" must surely apply here; they've got us over a barrel. :)

I would have to ask if your care is available when you need it? I'd have to add it all up, but last year my dental plan alone paid near $8000, and $3000 more so far this year. If so you'd better stay where you are, and you also have a good hockey team to go with it. :)

Not entirely free here (unless you are unemployed or on welfare, in which case your insurance will be tax funded), but employers pay the most part and employees a minor part. Self-employed people get special conditions (it's called a "private insurance"), they have to pay higher monthly costs but can actually get better treatment (not medically better, but faster/ more comfortable) and in some cases can get their insurance fees refunded if they stay healthy for a long time.

I would have to ask if your care is available when you need it? I'd have to add it all up, but last year my dental plan alone paid near $8000, and $3000 more so far this year. If so you'd better stay where you are, and you also have a good hockey team to go with it. :)

Don't know about Finland, but here medical care is available when necessary. Emergency care is always available of course. For non emergency stuff you may have to wait a few weeks (or even months) but you can always opt to pay the doctor's bill yourself, in which case the waiting time for a doctor's appointment will become sigificantly shorter.
Your dental plan is insane. Would it cover for an entire set of artificial teeth implants?

I think public service healthcare is free but it may take a week or two to get an appointment as well there's this private sector which costs and you get immediately healthcare but usually it doesn't cost you anything if your workplace have a private healthcare contract. Basically they pays it for you. and of course there's this emergency service which gets you immediately healthcare but i think you need to pay a bit but i think insurance pays most of it. I am not exactly sure how the healthcare works here but this is how I think it works from experience.

dental care is about 20 euros just a regular check and people under 18 it's free all dental care

national guard yes. I have over 22 years in. I don't want to do this much longer. im not going to make e-7 soon as too many are ahead of me and I need the schools. I don't mind it. but well that is also off topic.

Exactly what's occurring, but they're only covering approximately half the cost up to a maximum of $10,000 per year. I didn't mention it but the retirement package I have also pays near half of my insurance premiums other than co-pays I also have with some procedures such as two CAT scans I had last year at $300 apiece. Wow, it's fun growing old at home, though I reckon it's preferable to returning to working status. :)
