Picking a major

I'm just curious to what made you all decide what you wanted to major in.

I had three majors in three completely different disciplines (actually within three seperate colleges at my university.

I started out in Engineering, then switched to a double in Liberal Arts and Business.

I'm really glad I moved around until I found what I liked. My job is actually directly related to what I studied in college (actually, all three majors to a degree).

That is rather rare these days, and almost all of my friends' jobs are totally unrelated to their majors.

I would encourage you to take a lot of diverse classes and settle on what you like. If you can't narrow it down...then double major and spend a bit more time in college...you won't regret it.

I love God and have been called to serve him, so I chose to be a Christianity Major. I'm also looking towards adding a business major to that be cause God has given me the abilitiues that would be great in that feild.

I'm thinking of changing my major to Early Childhood Education. One day, I say I'm going to stay with Nursing. Then the next day, I want to be a teacher. I don't know WHAT I want to do! Personally, I'd like to do BOTH and I know I can, but then comes the question of "Which one do I aim for FIRST?".

I need to figure out what to do quickly though because registration is coming up fast. :-?

should I major in Molecular bio? seems like a lot of ppl are taking it..

Well, I also love God and have been called to serve him. I'm majoring in zoology with the plan to go to vet school. God has given me an interest in physiology (it absolutely fascinates me) and I'm fairly good at memorizing so this helped me make my decision. I've also seen veterinarians serving Christ and showing his love through veterinary medicine in parts of the world where people rely on their animals for their own survival. This has also encouraged me to go into the field. As I'm sure you probably know, you can serve God no matter what you major in.

Wow, all these Noble Majors, Im an Accounting Major Lol. Want to be a CPA, then get my MBA, then Finally my JD in Corporate Law.

i'm an english lit major. last semester i declared a native american studies minor but somehow they've lost my paperwork. so i need to go declare my minor again. i like my classes, they're fun! :D

i haven't decided if i want to persue a masters at my school. the teachers who teach the masters classes for english have all told me i have it in me, i just have to make that choice. i dunno, i already feel like i've been in school forever.

I'm a double major. Philosophy and Theology.

I actually started out as a Biology/pre-med major, but switched my Freshman year (just before classes started) after a lot of thought. The previous year the transitional deacon (now a priest) at my parish recommended that I read John Paul II's encyclical "Fides et Ratio" ("Faith and Reason") after I expressed concern over an accusation from my senior English professor that "religion is for weak minded people". After I read it, we continued to discuss philosophy and theology (for that was really my first experience with it) even after he was ordained and had been sent to another parish. Eventually, instead of focusing on medicine, I was buying philosophy and theology books and spending all my time reading and being surprised by faith... and the relationship between faith and reason (when understood properly), and thus, much to the disappointment of most of my family, I changed my major.

Thus, instead of a doctor, I want to be a DRE (director of religious education) and teach others about the faith. Philosophy will be a great assistance, and I also hope to better develop my own philosophical opinions as regards my faith, etc... maybe I'll be the next Edith Stein. ;-)
