[__ Prayer __] Possible Ear Infection

So for the past few days I've been having a lot of problems with my ears. Every morning I have woken up with both of them hurting me and a lot of ear pressure. Yesterday my right ear was clogged and it was messing up the entire right side of my head making me feel unbalanced and a little bit dizzy. Oh yeah, I've also experienced ringing in my ears as well.

I also have a cough that comes and goes. I have a yearly appointment coming up on August sixth, but I would like to get into the doctor sooner than later if possible, but unfortunately that's rather difficult right now. :sad

Did you ask your mother about your ears? Tell her what is going on?

Maybe one of the immediate care facilities? You don't need an appointment, and they usually let you in within a few minutes. Can you talk to your doctor on the Internet? Let him know what is happening so he can tell you if you need to come in sooner? Some hospital systems have web sites where people can talk to their doctors.

I agree with your prayer for healthy ears.

Hi....try a decongestant.
Over the counter will do.
But still go to the dr even if it helps.

Lord, help us all.

Oh and one thing I forgot to mention is that whatever this is, sometimes I have moments of temporary blurred vision. If this keeps up over the weekend though, I'm going to be calling the doctor. Urgent care doesn't usually work around here because all they say is to go visit my doctor anyways and when I had ear problems before they didn't even give me the correct diagnosis. :rolleyes

You know another point that I forgot to add. When I do finally get a chance to go to the doctor he is probably going to send me to a specialist anyways. (ENT) What happened to the days of just going to the doctor, being checked out, and then going home and moving on with whatever treatment you need to have or do? I'm going to tag JohnDB on this because he and I were just discussing this thread and I want to know his input because I usually like and agree with what he has to say.

its an insurance coverage deal. or disability coverage. or...what have you, any sort of 'plan' that compensates doctors for services. the rules generally are...1. primary care then 2. off to (hopefully, an approved and covered) specialist.

the libertarian crowd thinks that should be scrapped, people should just...pay, out of pocket, no need for insurance, etc. would maybe drive down costs, but if you'll notice...MDs (and DOs) in the US keep their salaries inflated by limiting the number of new, homegrown doctors minted in the US. medical school is hyper-competitive, mostly to maintain high salaries and prestige. the growth of overseas medical schools that can get their graduates into the US has helped, somewhat, as has immigration of MD/DOs from abroad, but...

overall, the game is rigged...for the MD/DOs, against the patient, even against those on the lower rungs of the medical hierarchy. sad :-(

So in other words the more medical personals I see the more money they'll make. It's sad that they care more about that then just doing whatever it takes to get me better as soon as possible. :sad

well...usually, its like this: primary care doc gets whatever compensation. usually, any sort of 'plan' wants treatment to stop there, or sometimes even with a lower level person, such as a nurse practitioner. if it doesn't...

they have people in various specialties who have agreed to whatever amount of monie$ per visit for specific conditions. usually, there are rules about when to refer, etc., and then caps on compensation for treatment of whatever ails you with the approved specialists.

i think the gov't plans (medicare, medicaid, va, etc.) have been shown to be more cost effective than private insurance plans. yay, big gov't! on the downside, they also get defrauded a good bit, it seems...and then when and if anything criminal comes of that, its a big, federal case (literally). that reflects more on greedy providers than on the programs, of course. human nature....

Oh I think I get it now. It's the government that all of the money goes to. No wonder why they always want to be in control. I would want to too if it meant that every penny spent would be going to me. (Being honest on this one here.)
