Prayer in School...

Schools in my state have a "minute of silence" every morning in which students may pray if they so choose. Most, however, just sit there. While it is fairly boring for most students, it appeases religious types and doesn't even violate the first amendment, so I support it fully.

Chupacabra what state do you live in I love that idea of a moment of silence each day thats awesome. At the high school i attend they aren't allowed to pray of course because it is a public school. However we have a group that does morning prayers daily there is about 50 kids and we break up into small groups and talk and pray. At our sporting events we aren't even supposed to have student led prayers but almost everyteam does it anyway. Before each soccer game one of people on the team will pray befor and after the games this has been a tradition at our school and for many of the teams. During school there is an occasional moment of silence like if someone passes away or if there is some type of disaster.

Well, I'm always praying silently in my head for the passer-by's at my school. Whenever our Christian club meets, we pray over the school and over each other of course. We are so blessed to be able to meet. But praying can't be halted by some state mandate. Some of my more opinionated classmates have threatened to make a big fuss about it, but I'm sure they couldn't handle the will of the LORD. But I'm still always praying that they will see that kicking any a Christian based club out of the school, or any religious club for that matter, would not benefit anyone. People need to be questioned about what they believe, just like Christians should constantly be sharpening the Faith. That's why I am constantly praying. I'm sure no one would give up thinking just because some silly law said so. :D

Well, me and 2 good friends sat on a bench at lunchtime and prayed for the whole hour, because a girl had committed suicide the night before (this was about 2 weeks ago) Of course, we got a bunch of odd looks and stares. I counted 10 people asking "what on earth are they doing??" in short whispers. Since then, we've made it a habit to pray openly for as long as we need to at lunch. (It's usually about 10 minutes or so). No one has stopped us yet!

I'm not sure if we are allowed to do this, because I do go to a public school. But then again, I live in Canada, so it might be different than the states.
