Seems to me they would have to prove sodomy was actually taking place. Regardless, if sodomy is occurring between two consisting adults the state should have no say in the matter. It should only be used in cases of rape or pedophiles.

Well, the narrative has been put out there that it had to be a liberal with an eye towards turnout for the Nov elections, but I find that narrative to be suspect. The ruling on this case was to be made this summer anyway, I believe sometime in July maybe, leaving ample time with an actual judgement to gin up the liberal base. It's not as if this ruling would have been a surprise to anyone.

But on the other hand, why a conservative you ask. As has been noted, the Chief Justice made it clear that this was not the final ruling. But, the Chief Justice has not been ruling on the side of his conservative justices, and his persuasion was severely weakening the 5-4 majority that had all agreed with this draft opinion. The leak is meant weaken the Chief Justice while bringing outside pressure on the majority to stand firm.

Why the Thomases, after their involvement with the stop the steal movement and the lead up to Jan 6, what more could they do in order to disgrace themselves? They have a cause they believe in, and they weren't going to let the constitution stand in the way of it. Why do you suppose Justice Thomas was the only one to rule against allowing the documents to be turned over to the Jan 6 congressional committee? Was he trying to protect is wife from being incriminated? But, if there was one well connected individual who could bring that pressure to bear, then Ginni is your gal.

Samuel Alito (+450): Exactly the kind of sociopath who wants to watch the world burn. There’s an argument going around amongst the folks who think this is a liberal leak that it “backfired” because now it prevents conservative justices from defecting lest they seem to be bowing to public pressure. That’s exactly why Alito would have done it! Force a wavering Barrett or Gorsuch back to the fold.

Clarence Thomas (+650): The most likely justice in the tank with Alito would have the same logic for spreading the story. But he’s also more likely to leave that decision to Alito, respecting the conventions of the Court. At least on this score — not so much on the judicial ethics score.

Ginni Thomas (+650): Ginni on the other hand is more than willing to burn things down… up to and including the legislative branch as it turns out. Would she have the exact lack of situational awareness to think that broadcasting to the world “hey, abortion rights are gone!” would be a good move for the Court? Oh my… let’s reconsider this line. I’m moving her to (+350).

I was watching the news last night and the Democrats are going to put a law forth that will legalize abortion at the Federal level, thus bypassing the Supreme Court.

We all know they don’t have the majority, so the law will not make it through congress. However, it shows the power that a majority can wield which is a preface to the November elections.

We are coming into fair weather and protest season is upon us. Politicians seem to support protests and the chaos, disorder and violence they bring. Trump had his insurrection and the Democrats have BLM. If the democrats can garnish the LGBT crowd into a frenzy, as they are currently provoking, the summer will be ripe to reap division in our country. Compound this with inflation, a looming recession and I predict we will see much chaos and violence in our major cities with the democrats blaming republicans and playing savior by sending more free money.

You just aren't considering the motivations from the right hard enough. You really should.

What impact do you think the leak might have on the 3 justices appointed by Trump? If Roberts would have convinced any of them to join him, the majority was gone. Or even if the opinions would have weakened in any way. But now?
How do you suppose any of those 3 justices would look if their opinion turned out to be different than that which has now been made public?

The republicans managed to steal one seat from the court when they refused to hold hearings for Obama's appointment nearly a year before elections. Then they rushed through another appointment only weeks before and election. Those Justices were chosen with the promise of overturning Roe. They had the opinion they wanted, who do you think did not want that to slip away after all that was done to take those seats?

I agree with Stove here that the bill won't pass in the Senate. Obama and Clinton (Bill) both had the opportunity to put in confirming legislation at the federal Level and did not.


The Dems will do as they did with the Stimulus, Medicare for all, Amnesty, and currently with Student Debt cancelation. Make promises and keep pushing it to election season to get people voting.


The one thing I respect Trumo for is his willingness to stop election baiting and just do what he said. He didn't get a lot done, but he tried.

The bigger problems is that Socialist and Fascist movements are stirring because of this mess.
