SALVATION – delivered from sin, promise of our welfare

Salvation means to be whole mind, body and soul as we surrender our will to God and allow his will to work in our lives by applying Gods word to every aspect of our lives. This allows us to know the mind of Christ and all the promises of God for our own well being so we can face anything that tries to come against us while here on this earth so we can triumph and be victorious through the grace and mercy of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Grace pardons us and mercy loves us unconditionally. Let’s start with the conversation of Jesus and Nicodemus to get a better understanding of what it is to be born again and how to shed this old sin nature through repentance and then we will move on to learn how grace and mercy works in our lives.

John 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
John 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Jesus was teaching Nicodemus that it was a Spiritual rebirth or renewal of our spirit that through Gods spoken word we can reconcile our past sins through repentance to be made sinless again before God. We are all born with a sin nature because of sin being introduced into the world through Satan’s deceit when he told Eve it was alright to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil even though God forbid them to eat of it. Our flesh will always sin because that is our nature and God can not see our flesh because of our sins nor can he hear the prayers of a sinner.

John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshiper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Sin separates us from God because God is a spirit and can only recognize his own children by what spirit is living in their hearts. We have to renew, rebirth - born again, Gods Spirit within us in order to be called a child of God and see the kingdom of heaven. We now put off the old man (flesh) and put on the new man (Spirit). We are renewed by the word of God and through the Holy Spirit teaching us of all things.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Colossians 3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Colossians 3:7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Colossians 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Colossians 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Colossians 3:11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Colossians 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Colossians 3:14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

True Bible salvation requires all sinners to first repent of their sins, and believe in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, as Jesus' first words in the Gospel of Mark, 1:15. Also, Luke 24:47; Acts 2:37-38; and 2 Corinthians 7:10, etc

Can anybody truly know if they're saved?
Even Paul said- "I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time" (1 Cor 4:3)

Sounds like this is where faith comes into the picture.

sure. I most certainly do, since 22nd February 1982. Praise the Good Lord

As a Christian, I could assume that I'm saved, but me and others might be in for a shock on judgement day.. :)
Jesus said:-"Not all who call me "Lord, Lord" will enter the kingdom of heaven. Then I'll tell them plainly, I never knew you, get away from me" (Matt 7:21-23)

so, when the Bible PROMISES all who truly repent of their sins, and believe in Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord, and begin their ETERNAL Life, this is not true? You suppose that ETERNAL does not actually mean this?

I know some people who think they've been saved, and as a result they drop their guard against satan.

Paul's own assurance

2 Timothy 1:12

For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

The Promise of Jesus Christ on Eternal Life

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life" - John 5:24

For starters, Jesus uses the double, "Truly, truly", which is for something very important, and noteworthy.

We then have the words used by Jesus, which are very important for our understanding of this Eternal Life, freely given to all "who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me". Jesus uses the Perfect active indicative Greek, "metabebēken", of "metabainō", literally, "to pass over" out of death into Eternal life. The perfect active has the meaning, that those who have heard the Word of Jesus, and believe in the Father, has ALREADY in their spiritual life, PASSED OVER to Eternal Life. This Life has already begun at Conversion, is with God already! This is the force of what Jesus is saying in the Greek. That is why it is called ETERNAL Life!

Blessed assurance indeed!

Actually none of us are saved yet according to Matthew 24:13 as we will face many trials and tribulations, but for now working out our salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, Philippians 2:12.

Working out our salvation actively living out the salvation we have received by faith by allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our life and character making our actions consistent to our new Spiritual self in Christ, Colossians 3:1-17. It's the process of becoming more like Christ and God's work of sanctification within us as we daily grow in Christ. It has nothing to do with earning our salvation through good works as it is all by God's grace through faith that is Christ Jesus, Ephesians 2:8-10.

as I have shown in #10, Jesus' own words contradict what you say

You are not seeing the full picture. In Matthew 24:3-13 Jesus gives us signs of the end of this age that we must endure, but it is only those who are truly Spiritually born again trusting Jesus in all things, John 3:5-7; John 5:24, that will endure all things that must come first before Christ returns are those who will be saved, or in other words, will be caught up to Jesus when He returns.

Many claim to be a Christian, but when faced with intense trials and tribulations, especially during the seven trumpets sounding and when the son of perdition takes it seat in Jerusalem causing all to take the mark of this beast, 2Thessalonians 2:1-12; Rev 13, there will be those of weak faith that will fear for their life and bow down to this beast system renouncing Christ to save their own life.
