As a general rule for both alcohol and other things, I'd say:
If you can enjoy a bit of it, without loosing control, and without getting addicted, then it is OK.

- If you know it causes you to stumble (you get drunk, get aggressive, get mean or drink too often and feel an urge that shouldn't be there (or if you know you get addicted easily): Stay away from it.

We should also remember not to cause our brothers and sisters to stumble. (So one doesn't drink in front of a recovering alcoholic)
