Has anyone read The Song of Songs lately and what do you think about it?
Is it a beautiful ancient song about lovers, literally?
Is it representing Gods love for the Jews?
Is it representing Gods love His church?
Or all 3?
When I read it years ago it was beautiful passionate ancient song about lovers. Now I feel it runs deeper in the spirit, declaring Gods love for all those who are faithful to Him.

The Shulamite - She speaks:
2:1 I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.

Solomon is addressed as “Beloved.”
The Shulimite is “My loved”, or “Love.”

Son 1:15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes. (Holy Spirit eyes)
Son 1:16 Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green.

Son 2:2 As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.
Son 2:3 As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons" - 2:3.

Of course if you don't know the metaphors the extreme explicit descriptions of what is happening in the action are lost upon you...

No, I'm not deciphering the book.

But let's just say that some things that people claim to be a sin in the bedroom just aren't right.

But what the book represents is Christ's passion and desire for the Church/ecclesia.

There are so many layers to this. If you research the Hebrew words, and their root meanings, and what certain things meant in that culture, that mean nothing to us in our culture, things are missed. And then you add the spiritual implications, it seems to go on forever. Maybe I'm naive, but it seems to me Solomon may have recorded the words that came to his mind, but it was God who inspired his thoughts.

The words are as accurately translated as possible...

But it's the metaphorical expressions that are what's not likely to be explained from any pulpit any time soon and most is beyond the rules of what is considered decent speech for this forum as well.

Ive heard several teachings on SofS. The first on radio in the 70's. And recently found another on YouTube.
You mean SofS is X-rated here?
I'm interested in the spiritual layer, not the physical.
The Lord probably had it written that way to appeal to men, like bait in a trap. His hope that eventually as they grew older and wiser they'd see His passionate love for them.

For lack of a better way to describe this, it is encrypted information, and requires deciphering. Scriptures are exceptionally fascinating BECAUSE they are constructed in a basic two fold format. There is natural language and a natural story, and, beneath this surface, there is spiritual meaning. Paul for example uses this methodology in deciphering an obscure law of the O.T. in 1 Cor. 9:9-10 or in Gal. 4. These are what might be termed opening gambits to the arena.

Once a "believer" discovers or more precisely, is shown or led by the Holy Ghost to HOW Paul derived his deciphering, they will find an entirely different document written beneath the natural document.

It's quite fascinating, to say the least.

I think so. I believe that the greatest love after the love of God is sexual love.
Throughout the bible God spoke of his love for Israel and Christ spoke of his love for his church. In Ezekiel 16 God condemned Israel for their idolatry which was akin to an adulterous relationship. God even used graphic terms when he told Israel
Ezekiel 16.15
But thou didst trust in thine own beauty and playest the harlot because of thy renown, and pourest out thy fornication on every one that passed, his it was.
Ezekiel 16. 25

Thou hast built thy high place at every head of the way, and hast made thy beauty to be abhorred, and has opened thy feet to everyone that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredoms.
The incestuous relationship between Lot and his daughter and all the others mentioned in the bible were sexual and God did not hide it. I think that when we look at the Old Testamaent and see the graphic details of things of a sexual nature the Song of Solomon is tame to say the least. I believe it is a love song for lovers and when you look at the description I believe that God allowed Solomon to write it for his people today.
God does not feel ashamed in describing sexual love. I think reading it from the bible makes it more exciting.
I think most pastors tend to "spiritualise" everything.

Leave it to us men to make it all about sex.
It's a romantic relationship. The best relationships start out as romantic and then culminate in sexual union, but us men leap right to the bedroom part of this beautiful romance between the lovers. We have lots to learn.

And as for saying that 'blowing on my garden' is a euphemism for oral sex....leave it to a man to rationalize the practice with that interpretation.

Anyway, I think it's about Jesus and the Jews. There is a phrase that occurs several times in the letter:
"Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires." (Song of Solomon 2:7 NASB)
This is so applicable to the Jews.

I can now see why Muslims say that the bible is pornographic in nature.

Genesis 2:24
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
1 Corinthians 6:16
Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.”
The Teacher said, for those who don't change their minds (repent)about sexual immorality, are they aware that to whom ever they have join as one in a sexual act, has become one with them, (therefore taken on their sins upon themselves as one) and to whom ever the person they had the act with who had other sexual partners are also joined now to them, so on and so on. He compared this sin as to the plague of AIDS, that quickly swept through all the nations of the Earth.

(Ezekiel 23:19-21 NASB)

I don't understand what the problem is but the link to the pdf file I can download but it will not open.So I went to the web site www.gracegod.com found it, downloaded it, it still won't open. Tried Chrome and FireFox
