Stayin faithful through college

To all the christians, what have you found to help you remain faithful to Jesus while you continue on through the trials of College?

My personal answer to that is that it has everything to do with community. College is challenging in more ways than just testings of faith. People shouldn't go through it alone.

I think a person could go to a 'Christian' college and try to do it alone and end up losing their faith. I also think a person could go to a 'secular' college and if they have a community of believers to go with them, they will be okay.

That, and, no matter how busy the work gets, always take time to pray.

I attend a Christian university and you are definitely right. Just attending it does not matter, it takes an active prayer life and you have to respond to God and accept what he's telling you. But of course, a Christian university has tons of benefits from this aspect because of obvious reasons.

Honestly I don't know about that one. But it is possible because they keep quite busy during the summer.

Okay. Cool. I agree with you. Christian Colleges aren't perfect in the least, but you can at least feel God on your campus. That helps the walk.

man, its hard in college

I have found that it is all about who you hang out with most of the time. Until recently I have been straddling the fence for 2 years in college. If you don't surround yourself with believers than you will have a very hard time maintaining your faith. I have experienced this first hand, but God has blessed me so much lately with a roomate that has a fire for God. And people have just started popping up out of nowhere that support me in my faith and encourage me. I just love it! It gets me excited just talking about it.

I attended Kansas university(nickname midwest San Francisco) which is also in the most liberal town in the midwest. If it weren't for my Christian campus group I would definately have fallen into the traps that professors and other campus groups laid for unprepared Christians. The campus is fairly hostile to Christians.

This testing of my faith and having to give an answer to those who wanted me to question my faith was a blessing. The experience made me a mush stronger Christian dispite their best efforts to discount it.

The Christian fellowship that I was involved with supported me and encouraged me in Christ to become a stronger Christian in adversity.

Thanks for your input brothers. most of the colege users are out of College or are freshman, like me. We're glad you two have come to join us.

Prayer. Thats the ticket, if we ever realize that our prayer life has slipped.... that should be an alarming warning that sin is at the gate in our lives.

Oddly enough, while I live in a rather liberal town, thats helped me grow all the more. I can't deny the spiritual warfare is afoot. When you have professors who are, pardon the literal pun hell-bent, on convincing you of their beliefs of atheism.... what more of a demonstration do we need that only Jesus is the Light?

Look around us, at the campus, and what the secular world and luke-worm christianity has spawned? The world around us, is all that I need to convince me of the "necessity" of our relationship with God.
