Surprising Testimony

Today, we went to our middle child's high school graduation commencement ceremony. The valedictorian gave his speech. He had the highest GPA of almost 500 graduating seniors. That's a big class, right?? He'll be going to the university of Chicago to study Chemistry in the fall.

He spoke of his struggle with OCD and other issues that stemmed from that. From there, he told his class and all the families in the packed semi-pro hockey arena that it was only Jesus Christ who pulled him through. He prayed for all of the students in the Name of Jesus, and invited anyone to ask him about Jesus after the ceremony or anytime.

This was a public school ceremony. What? What? What? Yup! How impressive is that? Praise His Name!

Has anyone witnessed a testimony that came out of nowhere at a time you never expected it to?

Amen! He had a funny sense of humor, too, for a guys with a 4.35 GPA. He thanked his class for never once beating him up in the 4 years he spent with them. :lol

I've seen valedictorians mention God almost as a little protest, but this guy gave praise, prayed, and invited people to know Jesus. In a packed arena!

There must be times when others have been happily caught off guard by the spoken Name of Jesus. I think of Mark Rubio's answer to the question about same-sex marriage at a campaign event. Awesome.

Yeah, I've seen people give surprising testimonies at times I wouldn't have expected it before, but I can't remember any as awesome as you just described! God bless this strong and brave man!

Amen, to all the responses! It was such a huge venue, I'm sure I never would have been able to track him down, but I sure would have wanted to. Our son and I had to make a quick escape to the restaurant we were all headed to afterwards. I wish I would have been recording a video, but I'm going to find out if there is one out there. I'll definitely post it here if I get one.

What a legacy he's already laid at such a young age. What a living testimony he'll be in his chemistry program at college and beyond! All glory to God!

Just the opposite of my son's school.

They wrote their speeches the night before after stealing the lines from other commencement speeches.

I told my son that if ever he has a captured audience and he flubs and reads a speech that he plagerized every line for he failed. When my wife and I got married we used the opportunity to tell of God's love and how we now we're going to join forces to make a stronger ministry for God. Our love for each other is a given...and kinda not relevant by comparison of our love for God and God's love for us.
He might consider the same for what to tell people as to what he finds most important to his success.

And it seems that this valedictorian has that figured out.
